Get ready to get your new Superhero MMO on, yo. Looks like Champions Online will be launching on July 14th in both North America and Europe. How about them apples? Darkzero (http://darkzero.co.uk/game-news/champions-online-dated-coming-mid-july/) (via VG247 (http://www.vg247.com/2009/04/24/champions-online-dated-for-july-14/)):
At an event held in the London today, which we sent someone to (hopefully they don’t get lost), Atari has announced that Champions Online will be released for PC in both the US and Europe on July 14th.
Looks fun to me... Except for that whole soul sucking sound I hear whenever I fire up a new MMO.

I wish 'em good luck. I'm interested, but I'm going to wait and hear from regular folks who have played before I buy this one. I had a blast with CoH/V, but I milked that for all the fun I was ever going to get out of it, and so far, about 80-85% of what I've seen for Champions looks to be the same kind of gameplay.

Half-assed MMO with half-assed character design, half-assed leveling system and half-assed gameplay? Yay.
This will be like a shit version of CoH and Crackdown combined.

I pay my yearly fee for Live, it would take an awful lot to convince me to pay more to play a single game. But best of luck Champions Online! Up, up and away!

@Speedbag: Exactly where it say "Champions Online will be released for Xbox 360 in both the US and Europe on July 14th. Live gold membership is also required for it"?

Hey! And right on my birthday, too. I might be willing to try this out when it comes out for the 360. (And maybe finally get a chance to put my chatpad through its paces.)

Big thread about this on the Champions forums. So far, no comment by the devs. That could mean anything though, I guess.

yeah, great time to launch a new MMO, in the deadest part of the gaming year. everyone is going to be too busy outside to notice.

Obviously you haven't been on Evil Avatar long. Most posters here fear the sunlight.

For good reason. Did you know germs multiply 30x faster in light than in darkness?

Ouch. A MMO that launched without a beta test?
Not. A. Good. Sign.

Just in time for Bastille Day! I think I'll name my champion "Robespierre (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maximilien_Robespierre)."
Is "convincing the masses to hang your enemies" considered a power?
(PS: History jokes. Wow, I'm a nerd)

This game has been in beta for ages now. I got in months ago. But the game is very "meh". I am gonna have to skip this one for now.
I did a level 20 character in CoH. If they stick to the same formula I won't be biting on this one.
It might seem silly but the DC license should hopefully keep my interest in a superhero MMO going after I reach the point that I can fly and wear a cape.

I already pay for Live and WoW, as well as a lot of new games.
I don't know enough about this game to judge it, but of I was gonna go for a second MMO it would be an established one like CoH or EVE. Though to be fair, there is every chance I'm gonna be on The Old Republic when it launches.

Hellgate London never left beta... and good old Bill Rober is on the champions team. I smell failure.
