Computer & Video Games has the news (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=213487) that Bizarre Creations and Activision are working on a new combat racer, Blur.

Bizarre Creations is now parked under the mighty Activision Blizzard brand, with the Project Gotham Racing moniker returning to Microsoft. Still with us? Good.

Since the swap of publisher, the Liverpool-based developer has been working on Blur, its brand new racer. From various internet translations, it looks like the game will be quite a departure from what you're used to seeing from the PGR team. But maybe that's a good thing?

Blur looks to be all about vehicular combat with mines, shields and other weapons to crush your competition with. Maybe that's not a good thing?

There'll be car-crumpling collision technology (think Burnout) and locals are said to include San Francisco, London, Tokyo, New York. That all sounds like familiar territory.

I guess Twisted Metal was a little bizarre.

I think they should make a new Wacky Races (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wacky_Races).

I initially misread this as:
"locals are said to includeD IN San Francisco, London, Tokyo, New York."

I guess no new carmageddon this time

Yeah this smells just like Full Auto but with a worse game title.

Looking forward to it.

I've never been into combat racing. I can't think of one game that's done it well aside from Mario Kart on the SNES.

the whole POINT of racing is to outmaneuver your opponents around the track. WHen it becomes something else, I don't understand why they don't just make something like Twisted Metal (a tournament style auto combat game with no racing element.) or Interstate76 (a story based game around a dangerous world where people are forced to have weaponized cars for protection).

Also, the story of these car combat games never really makes any sense. It's mostly implausable.
