2k Sports (http://www.2ksports.com/go/kwelcome/media.php) is offering 15 free MP3 downloads with no DRM. While non of the songs available are "mainstream" it is nice to see some DRM free MP3s.

Some of those artists are definitely close to mainstream. The Roots? If nothing else, you've seen them on Chapelle's Show.

For anyone interested, before you click I'll let you know it's mostly rap. Wish I'd known that...

What, do they not cry enough? I thought you emo kids liked pain, as it gives you something to write about on your DeadJournal.
I'm just kidding. Trying to spice up a boring Monday.

Rock is only dead if you listen to garbage like nickelback. Wait a sec, thats pretty much what consumes rock today, so yeah its dead.

Yeah I have already cried and wrote in my Journal today. :D

Like was said above, a few of these (specifically The Roots and Common) are pretty close to mainstream if not all the way there.
Very cool to see them doing this. Props.

Ghostface is part of Wu Tang. And just so you know, according to RUN DMC and a lot of artists RAP is rock, why do you think Eminem calls himself Elvis?

Cause he has the IQ of an invalid?

Because he doesn't listen to Eminem? I would imagine he would have at least average IQ.

Yeah, like him or not, it's obvious in his wordplay that Eminem has some intelligence going on. Now whether or not he's putting it to good use, that's another argument entirely...

Wow, and no one sees the bias at all. It starts from I do not like rap and ends with eminem has the iq of an invalid. But then again he is making millions off of music you consider garbage simple music?

Because his fan base has a slightly lower IQ average?

Because his fan base has a slightly lower IQ average?
That's certainly more plausible than the idea that Eminem himself has a low IQ.

I could and would kick their asses too! But I have eaten a large meal.

Yeah.... so anyways... back to the REAL topic at hand. I can personally vouche for the Little Brother and Zion I and Ghostface tracks as really solid tracks. I'll turn my copy of NBA 2K6 on sometimes just to listen to the tracks on there.
On another note, why do we have the ability to play using our own soundtracks we've ripped to our XBOX/360, yet, we don't have the ability to rip the soundtrack from a game and use it in other games (or just listen to it in the built in media player)
