A patch (http://www.callofduty.com/patch_cod2/) for Call of Duty 2 that improves performance with Intel Hyper-Threading (HT) Technology single and dual processors has been released.

Please note that Call of Duty 2 is a very graphically intense game. The greatest performance increase from this upgrade will be realized by selecting Optimal System Settings in the Options menu.
Thanks to Blues (http://www.bluesnews.com/) for the tip.

I love all the HT exclusive patches and features lately... I guess it shows how much it sucks since everything has to be optimized for it....

Even though this isn't the 1.12 patch for Battlefield 2, this is still cool.

I just got a 3800+X2 Processor. Good to see more games supporting them.

Hopefully more devs can patch in support for dual core processors.

Does Call of Duty 2 suck because they have to optimize software to run efficiently on hundreds of different processors?

Sarcasm. It's a word that means something. Id prefer a gameplay related patch first than this crap though.

That "server boycott" really kicked IW's ass into patching the game, didn't it?

Oh, wait...

Because the programmer who'd be responsible for this is the guy who's also re-designing, re-balancing and improving gameplay elements right? Heaven forbid that the IW development team actually spend time trying to improve their skillset and ability to add such features into future products. Gosh only knows we don't want performance improvements ontop of gameplay elements.

(ps, this isn't the patch annouced yesterday)

Pointless to most of the ppl who play CoD2.

Wake me up when they come out with a patch that actually fixes bugs and implements PB. K, thanks~

Yes, exactly.

Lol, "gosh". And gameplay is much more important that performace related issues. "Optimization" is even less important.

ShiZuru:

Since you don't seem to get it...

Do you think it takes a full team of programmers and coders to patch gameplay elements? Software development teams are not single minded. They have multiple people working on multiple things. Some working on gameplay elements, some working on technical issues, artists doing art stuff, and assistant producers assisting.

The programmers who did this optimization were either waiting for work to come down the pipe, or not tasked with making changes to gameplay or tying in punkbuster.

Yes, exactly.
