Worthplaying (http://www.worthplaying.com/) has posted the scoop (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=30696&mode=thread&order=0) on LucasArts downloadable content plans for the Xbox version of Star Wars Battlefront II. Presently, a free download is available now that adds theAssault mode on Kashyyyk for the Hero Free-For-All mode.
Here's a bit more about future download content plans...
This January, an even bigger premium-content download will be made available for Battlefront II fans via Xbox Live. For only $4.99, players gain two new playable hero characters (Jedi Kit Fisto and the evil Asajj Ventress) as well as four of their favorite maps from the original Star Wars Battlefront. Each of the new maps - including Yavin 4 Arena, Bespin Cloud City, Rhen Var Harbor and Rhen Var Citadel - boasts Conquest, Capture-the-Flag and Hero Free-for-All (which adds the new characters, as well). New gameplay modes for maps already in the game are also planned, but have yet to be finalized.
Beat it and sold it already, someone (cough, cough Evil) warned me the game was less than stellar. He was riiiight (Best Beastie Boys' impression).
Yeah, Battlefront II was a little short, especially as far as single player goes, but let's not kid ourselves here: playing as Ewoks and chucking rocks and spears at Imperial Scout Troopers is 8 kinds of awesome!

Where is the SDK for BF2? Have they announced any plans for mod and mapping support? I want to make Ithari Basin!
Groups 1 + 2 go BS, 3 go Mill.

You sold it?!? Well, I guess you mean the other version (X-Box)... I'm still having a lot of fun with it... you know... when I can stop playing WOW. :D

I really couldn't stand the hero characters in SWBFII to the point where I never have them switched on now. I also found there were a few other new features which I wasn't too keen on, so they got turned off or ignored...
It's when you realise that the game now plays exactly like a £40 (roughly $70) measly expansion pack that it may not have been worth the effort in the first place!

Yeah, I bought it for the PC breezed through the single player even with the dumbest A.I. I've played against in sometime. Multiplayer was meh to me. I am not too bitter about it, got all but $10 back on it when I sold it off.
But hey, each to his or her own.

Why all the hate for Battlefront II? I thought it was actually a good game that expanded well upon the first. A "measly expansion pack"? I didn't hear anyone complaining that UT2k4 was a "measly expansion" when it added vehicles and a couple new gameplay modes, but left the primary gameplay basically the same? I'm not saying SW:BF2 is GoTY or anything, but I think it was a fine sequel to what was a very fun first game.
Of course, it's worth noting that in many regards, LucasArts SW games (the good ones, anywy--SW:BF1/2, KOTOR, umm... =) are sort of like World of Warcraft in that they don't do anything groundbreaking gameplay-wise, rather drawing solid concepts from existing games. But they both excel at presentation and a great environment/story-line.
And for the record, I think the best environment for enjoying SW:BF2 is 4 player split screen, provided you have a very large television or projector (which is what I use--11' screen 4tw! =).
Cheers, and Merry Christmas!
AND BTW... Buying BattleFront 1 or 2 and then complaining about the single player game is like buying BattleFIELD 2 and complaining about the single player mode--it's nice to have in there, but it's not the real reason you should be buying the game.
