GamesRadar has posted a preview (http://www.gamesradar.com/pc/just-cause-2/preview/just-cause-2/a-20090331153820607014/g-20080130113114807084) of Avalanche Studios' upcoming action game, Just Cause 2.
Just Cause 2 doesn’t want you to feel hassled. Ever. It knows that its ludicrously huge world would be a pain to navigate in traditional ways. So not only does it give you plentiful methods of transport, but it makes the journey possibly more fun than the destination. You don’t need to hijack vehicles to get around – all you need is your trusty grappling hook and parachute. In the original Just Cause, it was possible to grapple on to cars for some parasailing action, but now you’re not restricted by that pesky “needing to find things to grapple” problem.
Running on foot not fast enough? Shoot the grappling hook - now handily attached to Rico’s arm via a gauntlet-looking thingy - into the ground in front of you. Retract the grappling hook, yanking Rico into the air. Deploy parachute. In an instant you’re soaring over the landscape...

Remember kids don't try this at home. I sincerely hope this wont be as disappointing a sequel that mercenaries 2 was.

Still impressed by the size of the box Just Cause one played in. Had a ton of fun just flying into the stratosphere and sky diving for like 5 minutes to the ground. Speedboating made the islands look gorgeous. Missions were junk, but even if they just improve the world any, I'm in.

I really hope they have improved the driving controls by a LOT.

I can't understand why this sequel is receiving any attention whatsoever. Just Cause was one of the worst games I've ever played. It was garbage through and through. The graphics resembled a PC game from the 90's and the sloppiness of the gameplay and animations were almost unparalleled. Media kept highlighting the sheer number of people and places when the truth was that the entire game looked like it was produced by a five year old with an in game map editor. Few games that I play make me laugh out loud; Just Cause was beyond laughter. I think I might have cried before I decided never to even look at the disk again. I'm just lucky I only rented it.

I totally enjoyed just cause 1, It filled that open world gta feeling game void, that was there at the begining of the 360's life cycle. Especially when I had just finished san andreas and saints row felt just too similar. Just cause was ridiculous fun, over the top.
Can't wait to see if the sequel will fix the problems, but keep the fun. Mainly gimmie more varied missions, and more things to interact with. Also smarten up the ai a touch.

Oh please... You don't have to like the game, but to say this was one of the worst games and produced by 5 year olds??? This was a launch title for 360 and one of the best looking games at the time. If you played it for 5 minutes you wouldn't notice the sheer size of the world and how well it performed in terms of load times. Sure the game was repetitive and the story wasn't all that great, but for a simple action game it was more than sufficient.
I find it ironic how people rate first generation games so low today. You simply cannot compare them to the recently released titles like GTA 4, COD4, Gears of War 2.
And to the person who said Mercenaries 2 was crap, you also didn't give it enough time. That was one of the best co-op games on 360 released last year. It beat the shit out of co-op in GTA 4 and I'd say I even enjoyed it more than Crackdown. Mercenaries 2 was meant to play in co-op, not alone, even the developer videos stated that multiple times. If all you played was the first 15 minutes (which most reviews were based on), then you missed 90% of what the game offered (unlocks later on in the story).

I think Just Cause 2 must have co-op for it to really succeed.

I am not comparing it to any recent games. All of the GTA's were incomparably superior to Lost Cause. I do not think any of the games you mentioned should really be used as standards of measurement. Gears of War and Call of Duty are good but they are by no means the be-all and end-all of games. None of the greatest games ever made were made in the last 5-10 years. Just Cause was an extremely low standard Mercenaries and Grand Theft Auto. It was a failure. I usually do not think so low of games, but this game in particular was remarkably sloppy.

I never played the first one although I always meant to, so Im now waiting for this. I just hope its as fun as it seems it could be.
Also, Mercs 2 was a huge amount of fun. How many sandbox games literally give you access to nukes?!
Just Cause was great fun. The driving controls really sucked on PC but the shooting was good fun, the graphics were good and the transport chaos was exciting. Many many many faults but enough good stuff and fun times to keep it afloat.
This was meant to be out like 2 years ago though. Makes me worry a bit as to what has delayed it so long when the developers seemed so sure that they could turn around a sequel in a year.
Mercs 2 wasn't terrible. It was just quite boring and that was extremely weird given the stuff you were doing.

I loved the intro from Just Cause. I mean, the beginning, where he jumps and he control it to the island. You can do anything you want. I loved.
And MSG3 copied it, right? :P
