I don't know about you guys but I'd really like a Warhammer 40,000 online miniatures game.

The core system of the tabeltop minis is great but it takes forever to paint+assemble, find a place to play, get people together, agree on the rules, argue about measurements, and find time to actually play a game.

I've always thought they would make a killing selling it as an online game. Of course they already have a liscence to print money with the tabletop game.

Funny that this is the first news item, as I just got back from a Warhammer FRP game. :D

If they can pull this off I'll be excited. The Warhammer Fantasy universe is really fascinating.

Mythic Entertainment has secured the rights to develop a new MMORPG based on Games Workshop's internationally popular Warhammer fantasy world. In development now, the game will be released worldwide in 2007.

Damn that sucks...

I just wish the game was 40k. Because we really need another fantasy esque (spell?) game with trolls and stuff. Give us sci fi, please, I beg, no more fantasy.

Agreed, I think there are enough fantasy-based MMORPGs at the moment.

A MMO based on the 40K world would rock; its a gritty, brutal sci-fi setting with magic and demons thrown into the mix.

The Inquisitor sub-setting of Warhammer 40K would make for a great MMO--individual inquisitors or warbands traveling around the galaxy from world to world fighting aliens, mutants, witches, heretics, and each other....good stuff. IMHO it would make for a far more unique game than Warhammer Fantasy.

Mightbe: I'd love a 40K miniatures online/PC game. But would Games Workshop go with the idea? I'd think they'd be against the idea because it would cut in to their minature sales.
