Sniper Elite Wins Game of the Year at TIGA Awards

Rebellion, the UK Developer, has won the coveted Best PC/Console game of 2005 at the recent TIGA awards for Sniper Elite.

Jason Kingsley, CEO and Creative Director said, "The TIGA award for Best Game means a huge amount to us and the company as a whole. With competition of the calibre as THQ's Juiced and the music quiz Buzz, it makes winning this award even more rewarding."
Cool! I've been meaning to pick this up for a while. Perhaps a rental is in order.

Decent game in my opinion. Honestly I enjoyed it way more than the very predictable F.E.A.R. that everyone couldn't talk enough about. Sure it has it's faults, but very few games don't.

I usually tend to pick the sniper classes in war games (Battlefield 2, Battlefront 2, Conker, etc.). So would anyone else who tends to favor long-range killing make a recommendation either way on this game? Somehow, the screenshots remind me of that movie "Enemy at the Gates".

Just read the reviews in the links I provided. My impression is that there's a lot of waiting around in order to score the perfect kill (judging wind, distance, etc.). If that floats your boat, then you should get a kick out of SE.

what the hell! independently made or not, this game's inventory system made me want to kill myself. not to mention getting stomped by submachine guns at ~100 yards.

the only good thing about this game was the bullet physics.

to further express myself, i like this game because on the harder difficulties provides a real challenge. The Ai is pretty good at beating the player, they use tatics and often flank and go around other buildings to catch you by suprise. The multiplayer is somewhat decent in my opinion, many maps that are well designed. Over i think this game works at what it is trying to accomplish but it does have a few faults in my opinion, though nothing worth mentioning. if i could gripe is that when you reload your weapons with out empying the gun first, you stand up and reload totally ruining your stealth factor. if you fired the gun empty, it would reload while being crouched or prone. The audio is decent, it provides a engaging experience to the player, making them feel imensed in the game enviroment. The game also has a ranking system to promote having perfect shots in the game.

No, but now I know not to. If I see porn--video or pictures--that shows a female with one of those large things...small penis sized/shaped...I get very grossed out and have to stop viewing no matter how nice the rest of her is. I really enjoyed sniper elite, but calling it game of the year is like calling my penis a trident submarine.
