First it was Spark (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8092&highlight=Finest+Hour), now THQ. Gamasutra (http://www.gamasutra.com) has the story (http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=7556).
"As a leading, global video game publisher with world class content, THQ's inclusion in the Massive Network significantly expands the reach of the new media we are working with our partners to create," said Mitchell Davis, chief executive officer, Massive. "THQ is already working on ways to incorporate a range of dynamic advertising into future games, which makes this relationship ideal for Massive both from a strategic and technical standpoint."
All hail the Massive, Inc. Katamari. I wonder which developer it will roll over next.

Yeah. Nothing like seeing an ad for Cingular on a ravaged planet...or worse...in the menu screen!

Why should we have to see advertising in a product we have already paid for? Tv has ads to pay for it, games have already been paid for.

Generally people pay money for cable TV, aversion2k.
"What's right" has no influence on these sorts of decisions, only "what people will put up with." And when each of the handful of content providers (publishers, studios) does this, you won't have much choice to put up with it or not.
Which is really the whole idea.

Correct. The only way to get them is to boycott the stupid ad-ridden games and send them hatemail til they realise people won't put up with it.
My decision not to buy games with ads makes sense from a "strategic and technical standpoint".

Yeah, but THQ makes most of their money off of shitty games. Nicktoons games, and Bratz games. Oh and Wrestling games. Making intersting games that people like us like is not up THQ's alley.
