Take my love, take my land
Take me where I cannot stand
I don't care, I'm still free
You can't take the sky from me
Take me out, to the black
Tell'em I an't comin' back
Burn the land, and boil the sea
You can't take the sky from me
There's no place I can't be, since I found Serenity
But you can't take the sky from me
I need me a Serenity DVD.
...Now, I have to wonder if DoA4 is actually coming out this week.

I've been hinting, but Everlost has yet to bite! :) No matter, I'll just build myself an igloo.
My in-laws bought a 'summer' house in Suttons Bay and they invited my wife and I up for Christmas. I need to don my special +10 in-law armor before arriving. :o

Not going to work, they have powers beyond anything of this world. They also cast confusion spells at random and drink +120 hate potions, so do not forget the o'shizzle cloak.
Is serenity worth renting or buying, anyone?

Keep in mind that although that movie is probably shit, it was written by someone who graduated from the University of Kentucky just last semester.

I thought there was already talk of a Serenity sequel coming to the Sci-Fi channel, which is plenty good news to me should it be true. Serenity is all I can pick up this week, I'm pretty sure it should be all I need though.

bapenguin - His heritage is a matter of some dispute. . . we talk of it as little as possible as it does not speak well of his miniature toy poodle mother's habits. :)
Personally, I'm happy that he looks nothing like his mother. I do not poodle's kinky hair or their pinched faces, but this mutt is just adorable. He is just getting his teeth, and formula is super expensive. I'm trying to feed him Puppy Chow with every meal and get him off the expensive forumla (the mother stopped producing milk and he is only 5 1/2 weeks old).

I liked everything about that series (especially Kaylee), except for the theme song, which made me want to shove pencils in my ear.
but when you hear it in the film, it sounds cheesy, silly and out of place.
Me and the packed theater I saw the movie with disagree. I thought it was very fitting for Wash to say that.
As for Serenity sequels, the total domestic and international take of the movie was just a million shy of breaking even- and that doesn't count the upcoming DVD sales. Universal said Joss just had to break even for them to consider sequels, so don't count Serenity out yet.
If you are considering buying Serenity, make sure to first buy the Firefly DVD set. The movie works on its own, but preferably you would first meet the characters and follow their character arcs- it really adds a lot of depth to the movie.

Holy shit I didn't even see the Thundercats disc the first time I checked the list. I got a Thundercats logo-shirt for Xmas last year and I love it. First time I wore it to work on a casual-Friday my boss (who was born in Bolivia and didn't move to the States until he was an adult) shouted, "Thundercats! I remember that show." Such a bad, bad show, which is what makes it so nostalgiac fun.

I would prefer that the serenity storyline continue in series format. the movie was very impressive, but you can't have movies every year. we need more serenity than movie format delivers.

I always kinda hoped it would pull a Family Guy. Serenity is damned good movie watching. Last week I bought a few movies. The Island (bunch of popular movies in one with action minus the cool fighting), 40 year old virgin (Steve Carell not funny - confirmed, movie - hilarious), sin city extended, and house of fly daggers.

You know, since my Aunt got me into Firefly I've made it my duty to try and get at least 2 people a month into it as well. I'm giving the series as a present to at least 3 people this year too.
Just trying to get the word out. . . and hoping they either make a movie or start up the series again once the restrictions are off them.

The first season was 13 episodes (well, plus the mini-series...). It now follows the typical Sci-Fi channel template of 20 episodes per season (with a mid-season finale and a few months off before starting up again). For some reason they are releasing the second season in a 2.0 (and one would guess 2.5) of 10 episodes each.

Bah, I'm buying season 2.0 because:
- I'm a geek
- It's only around $30
- I'm getting it as a Christmas present (which sucks cause I can't open it yet)
- I'm supporting the show the most important way possible, with cash
- I'm not going to wait another 8-10 months hoping they'll box 2.0 and 2.5 together right before season 3 hits
Until I get to open my 2.0 present, Serenity will have to keep me warm at night. Best Tuesday releases EVAH!

I was going to get this. . . the $30 price tag seemed about right for the show, which I like, but am not in love with (The scar-faced Captain has to be one of the worst actors I've ever seen. . . I fidget a bit any time he is in a scene). . . but for half a season, it is a bit of a rip-off. . . also, it just seems like some "clever" corporate strategy meant to maximize profits.
Whenever possible, I try to assert myself as an intelligent consumer in the most important way possible, with cash.

My BN is apparently hearing tons of hype for both Firefly and Serentity. The Season DVD sold amazingly well and still does consistently. I am sure the Movie DVD will also do very well...I have even heard that some places are packing them together and offering them at good deals, amazon (yes I know the competitor).
Simply put, buy the movie and enjoy.

I was introduced to the Firefly series by someone in one of my Cisco courses. He loaned the DVDs around to everyone interested, and now they all own their own copies. Just a few weeks ago I didn't know what the series was, now I'm a Firefly/Serenity evangelist. You owe it to yourselves to check it out.

You were doing good until you started insulting Edward James Olmos.. At least I think that's who you were talking about, he's the commander though, Apollo's the captain. The man (Olmos) has been acting for 30 years now. He sticks primarily to indie stuff, and I'll be the first to admit that I didn't really pay much attention to him until BSG. However, after watching the miniseries and finding out that he made that last speech up on the fly pretty much cinched the deal for me as far as his acting ability is concerned.
