Anyone else having problems with Steam?

I'm getting a server error and when I try to go to steampowered.com it doesn't come up either. Is there a way to start in Offline mode? It kind of sucks I can't play games I paid for...

I'm pretty glad I'm not alone on this. I'm also pretty glad it didn't last long.

My download speeds are terrible. I have a 512kbps (yes this is lebanon) and I get download speeds of around 10-20 KB. This is terrible because if I already purchases Assassin's creed and it will take ages to finish.
I wish I could find a steam-compatible backup for it and download it normally.
