Driv3r was a pathetic attempt at continuing a (potentially) great series, and yet Atari is still not happy with how low it sunk: they're doing another sequel, with this first trailer (http://www.playfuls.com/news_4285_Driver_4_Parallel_Lines_Download_First_T railer.html) as proof of their... stubbornness (to say the least).
The only good thing about it is David Bowie's song; if you're into that anyway.

I think the DEVS(that's right, the DEV'S(D-E-V-S)) tried to make a great game. It was a good concept, BUT Atari wanted it out there. So, it didn't go far.
Hopefully there's more freedom this time around.
Remember...DEVS.

Driv3r (ugh) wasn't that bad, even the action sequences did fine when compared to your average ps2 shooter. IMO it was just way too hard, basically if you made even a small mistake, bam, and 3min chase all over again. The director thingy which i enjoyed very much could have been so much more. How about a god damn fast forward and rewind next time eh!?

I would disagree here.. Atari doesn't usually produce crap. They have their moments of crapfulness, but generally they make good stuffness.
I think the developers are lazy bastards who want to make bank on a dead franchise.

Most Wanted is definitely cool. I've been wanting to pick it up for the last 2 weeks but everyone in town is sold out (and by town, I mean a city with 200k people in it or so). :P Kinda sucks to have 6 computer GAME stores in town and every single one of them to be sold out...

The sad thing about Driv3r was that even though it received poor reviews, it sold pretty well, I think, because of the massive advertising machinery only those big and evil corporations can afford, but's that's where the gaming business in heading, exactly where the movie and music industry has been for several years now.

At least they recognize the '70s were a much more fun decade than any since.

Unless, of course, you were born after the 70's... Then they weren't terribly fun and exciting at all.

I'm playing the PC version.. and I must say that I personally like it better than the Xbox 360 version. But I have to clarify that I've played the 360 version for all of 15 minutes. Oh the 360 version does look a little nicer... But that could be an optical illusion. ;)

Nah, no optical illusion - everyone here knows that the Xbox 360 is waaaay more powerful than any PC!

So... what is it that is so terrible about this trailer, again? Yeah, they're still using the same engine, but it's not coming to the 360 or anything. It's PS2/XBox. What did you expect?
It was the GAMEPLAY of Driv3r that sucked. This trailer shows nothing of what gameplay might be like. If they fix the crappy bits of the game and stay with the engine, I could care less. The graphcs are just fine, for a PS2 game.
And it's not entirely Atari's fault. Driv3r was in production for forever. Saying they 'pushed it out' makes it sound as thought the developers weren't given enough time to do their jobs. They were given MORE than enough time. Over Driv3r's development cycle, they should have EASILY been able to make a better (or at least less buggy) game than they did, deadlines or no. Instead, they chose to make crappy short films and recruit star voice talent. I hate Atari as much as anybody, probably more, but the blame for Driver belongs as much to the developers as to them.

Please don't kill me - Lamecube version.
Oh and check the reviews, fit (or fitbabits? or Boots?), the PC version is the superior version - better graphics and unlimited fps whereas 360 version chugs along with a jumpy 30 framerate and jaggies to boot. I know it's EA's fault but if one had to chose I'd recommend PC version + 360 controller or DualShock2 controller.

**Pulls out Berreta 10mm pistol and puts it to Borys' head....**
Oh wait, you said DON'T kill you. I read that wrong...
**Puts weapon to Lamecube's head and pulls the trigger**
Now go buy a REAL console, you little peon!

I've played NFS:MW on PS2/PC/X360 for many more hours than everyone on here combined (try 4 hours a day for a week straight) and I can safely say that the X360 on my 50" DLP is superior to the 20" PC monitor, period.

I've played nfs:ms for an absurd number of hours as well, and i can safely say that i prefer a framerate above what the xbox360 version supports.
Seems a little laggish on the 360, while my pc runs it great.
Maybe it's a spec issue with your PC?

The driving bits of Driv3r (ouch... it hurts me to type that) weren't terrible, it was just that the requirements were WAY too strict. The on-foot stuff however was a nearly unplayable nightmare. I've always thought that if they took Driv3r (ow) and removed ALL the on-foot stuff and made the driving requirements more lenient, it would actually not be a bad game. Of course, it would also just be a prettier version of Driver 1. I've read that Driver 4 is supposed to focus more on driving, which would definitely be a step in the right direction, but I have a feeling that the executives in charge will start thinking about marketing and how they could possibly sell a game that didn't boast a hundred different weapons, melee attacks, "respect" points, changable clothes, multiple playable characters, etc. etc. and force them to change it. If they just made a game about driving, like the first one, it would kick ass. But I doubt it will happen.

Driver 1 was freaking impossible as well though, let us not forget that. The insane difficulty seems to be a design statement for the team....

Eh... the only part of Driver 1 that I found "impossible" was the test at the very beginning. It was the single most ridiculous game design choice I have ever been witness to. After that it got very easy and had a fairly natural difficulty curve the farther you got into it. Driver 2 was a different story. Each new mission was a total crapshoot as to where the difficulty would land. Maybe easy as pie, maybe a grueling trial of pain, and it didn't matter if you were on mission 2 or the last mission of the game.
I still say I'd be willing to part with some cash for a current-gen driving game like Driver 1. Spend all the development time on making a fully interactive world with really fun driving physics and forget trying to be like Grand Theft Auto. Do all the "on-foot" stuff in the story through cutscenes like in the first game.

I'm running NFS:MW Black on my PC, its been dominating my time on weekends. Its also a substantial game with a good lot of depth. I beat the Career mode over the weekend, having easily put 50 hours into the game, and I won many races first try. The cop chases are just so intense at the higher levels, and the fact that you can't simply out run them plus their decent AI makes them a challenge to escape.
It was easily worth 50 bucks.
