Gamecloud (http://www.gamecloud.com/) has posted an article (http://www.gamecloud.com/article.php?article_id=2707) outlining some initial details regarding a game based on the upcoming X-Men 3 movie.
As with most super hero movie game adaptations, the X-Men 3 game will not follow the movie storyline down the middle but will have lots of additional stuff. The game itself, developed by Z-Axis, will have a script co-written by Chris Claremont...The third person action game will feature Wolverine, Nightcrawler and Iceman as playable characters. The game is due for release in May around the time the movie is due in theaters and will be released for all current gen consoles, the PC and the Xbox 360 which will get some graphical upgrades including improved character models.

They didn't kill him off in the last movie. I wonder if Cyclops will be in the game...

What is the appeal of these movie adaption games anyhow? Does anybody really like those things?

How about just making a better X-men Legends? But set in the movies, as there is no way to top Legends for X-men fun.

Hmm. I'd bet the mass appeal of Legends has reached high tide and started rolling back. Considering they can sell a certain # of units of anything with X-men on the cover, I'd just as soon see a solid 3rd-person action game with kick-ass graphics and intricate combos. Legends was too bland and cell-shady for me, but I'm sick of isometric hack-n-slashers for the time being. Maybe I burnt out from the recent Baldur's Gate Champions of Norath deluge, but Legends just seemed a pale shadow of the games it was emulating. The RPG growth in Legends felt tacked-on, the environments were bland and full of invisibile walls that really made the playing field feel diminutive. None of these qualities are game-breaking, but it failed to wow me like it did so many others. Maybe my hatred of cell-shading prevented me from appreciating on as many levels as you all.

I dunno, I'm kind of burned out on top-down hack-n-slashers. If they can really run with the X-Men license the same way the Hulk: Ultimate Destruction team did, I'd definitely be into that...

Oh hell yes!! I was hoping that Marvel properties would be used for a few more games like Spider Man 2 (console, not PC) and Hulk Ultimate Destruction. Then after a couple years they could use the same code to make a free-roaming game with a bunch of different playable Marvel Heroes. X-Men could totally fit this bill...but they'd have to add vehicles since so many muties get around by plane.

Don't see how that will work in a group based game... That would have to utilize a group AI, and I have my reasons for not trusting group AI in a licensed game.

I don't understand why Legends and everybody else has to out right copy the Dark Alliance strategy. Dark Alliance is Dark Alliance. What's the point of trying to makign the same game with an xmen skin on it? I'd much rather see an original game with an original story that makes good use of the Xmen lisence.

I always thought of Legends as a 'beat-em-up+". Rember that X-2 game? That game sucked.
I just mention Legends because it was the closest game to achiving an 'x-men' vibe. Which is all about teamwork in my mind, and crazy powers.
Oh well, guess it's time to Trust in Z-axis.

Script written by Claremont and a game that will likely center around Wolverine...? Wow, worst idea ever.
