Thanks to Next Generation (http://www.next-gen.biz) for the story (http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1892&Itemid=2).

Game sales are equally slow across the pond, with Activision slashing prices of top titles such as Call of Duty 2 to £19.99; EA and Ubisoft react.

Slow holiday game sales prompted Activision to drop prices on certain games as much as 30 percent at U.K. supermarket giant Woolworths, leaving other publishers little choice but to follow suit. Ubisoft and EA have both countered the price slash with their own deals at top U.K. games retailer Game. New game titles normally average £30-40 for current generation titles.

Time to stock up on some of those nice PC titles you've been eyeing up! For example, F.E.A.R. for £19.99 (http://shop.game.net/ViewProduct.aspx?cat=11142&mid=325136) at GAME (http://shop.game.net). There are plenty of other deals as well if you're so inclined.

Sweeeeet. Now would be a good time to be in the UK.

Or, you know what, probably not.

But that's pretty awesome.

Games are too expensive. I really can't justify spending $60 on a game that may not be much fun, and then have no way of returning it for a refund. It just doesn't work.

20 pounds is still almost $40 right now, and if you're judicious in your game buying that's not really that special. Take FEAR, since ftabits mentioned it, that's been down below $35 a lot and goes for $30, or $35 for the DVD edition, on Amazon.

Crap, you're right. I just saw the DVD version of FEAR on Amazon for $35! Of course, it's now on it's way to my house. :)

Big Red One's the console version, the PC version's just CoD2.

I know, FEAR won't even run at more then 6fps on mine. Only thing my wee 5700 Ultra hasn't been able to handle at least playably.

Of course the 360 version of CoD2 is still £50. That's pretty freaking retarted. I've seen 360 games for £40 online at other websites, but thats the cheapest I've found for the UK. I really want to pick up a fourth game to go with my 3 launch titles as I'm getting through those, but the price is putting me off a little.
