Continuing the long line of game titles seperated by periods, Ubisoft has announced R.U.S.E., a new kind of Real Time Strategy game.
R.U.S.E. is a one-of-a-kind real-time strategy game that allows players to bluff their enemies to lead their nation to victory, controlling the action using views that range seamlessly from the heart of the battlefield to the full theatre of war. Players will be plunged into the action thanks to the exclusive IRISZOOMTM Engine which offers an intuitive interface that allows for smooth, rapid transitions from a birds-eye view of the entire conflict, down into the heat of the battle and vice versa.
“With R.U.S.E., Ubisoft is once again shaking up a genre, offering an RTS with a twist that will thrill gamers,” said John Parkes, EMEA marketing director at Ubisoft. “Ubisoft is known for innovation and R.U.S.E. continues that tradition, offering the most immense and detailed maps ever seen in an RTS. Players can explore the maps using IRISZOOM Engine, which provides an aerial, smooth interaction unlike anything ever seen before.”

In R.U.S.E., players use their brain as the ultimate weapon, fighting a war of perception, where the ability to deceive and mislead the enemy determines success. A first in a strategy game, R.U.S.E. reinvigorates the genre by using deception to give new-found depth to the game play.

I hope it makes it to the 360.
Don't hate me for loving consoles.

You might want to reread the first paragraph. :)
Interesting. I wonder how this will actually work in execution.

Supreme Commander used the quick transition from battlefield to full theater view, and that was pretty sweet. I don't know how the game works, but I'm definitely intrigued by the concept. I guess we'll see more about it tomorrow.

This doesn't impress me. Oh look, 10 years later we can make Dungeon Keeper: Modern Combat!

oh teh noes!!! Their artists are armed with the plastic wrap filter, and they are NOT afraid to use it! RUUUUUUUUUUUN!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds like some studio exec was wowed by a tech demo. If he'd played Supreme Commander he'd know that it results in the player playing the game completely zoomed out with little 2d icons representing his units.
This is why decision-making power should be put in the hands of people who actually play games.
There is a trailer up on gametrailers.
I'm more confused than ever.

I read about this game in a real gaming site (rock paper shotgun), and what I read there was pretty interesting.
The funny thing is how every single post above mine is ignorant bullshit. Please read more about a game before sticking your foot in your mouth guys.
For instance, the game has a board-game like structure, you can use Ruse cards to fool the opponent, the mega zoom-out remains full 3D (not that crappy 2d icons on a featureless map), you issue orders and counter-orders...
It looks pretty cool.

Clearly, everyone above this post, including that fellow begging for a 360 port, is a hillbilly and an ignoramus.
Only the most well-heeled, polished and sophisticated gamers will enjoy this Axis & Allies re-skin-with-a-twist.
The rest of you low-brow types, carry on with your vulgar existence. Simpletons.

This preview actually sheds some light onto how the game functions. Sounds interesting, but i wonder how deep it actually goes.

EndWar ended up being decent, so I think they can make a solid strategy game.
And props to Ubi for branching out into a completely diffferent genre, or creating one for that matter.

It seems like an interesting idea. Doubt it'll be as complex as it should though.

I just wish people would read about the game before jumping in the mob stoning it.
