One of my all time favorite puzzle games hits the DS this week and IGN (http://ds.ign.com/articles/676/676327p1.html) has the review.
Bust-a-Move has been done and redone several times in the past decade, but the Nintendo DS version easily features the biggest change to the core gameplay. Though the game can be played the traditional D-pad way by changing the control mechanics in the Options menu, Bust-a-Move now offers a clever and really fun touch-screen control. Using the stylus, players fling the bubbles up to the top screen by pulling back on the token like a slingshot. Though momentum doesn't come into play (it doesn't matter how far you pull back), the actual angle and trajectory is altered by the direction you slide the slingshot left or right. Confusing as it sounds, it really isn't - the developers address any issue with a marker that shows the initial path the ball will take when you let go of the touch screen. The drawn path is cut short about a quarter of the way up the top screen, so you still have to eyeball the angle so that your aim is true.
Anybody else fans of this series?
The first one was cute.
The subesequent 500,785,193,201,446,808,546 sequels - which were basically the exact same game - made it rather tiresome.
I love it!
But I'm not a console-owner, so I only played Bust-A-Move 4 and Puzzle Bubble on the PC. Me and "the guys" have some great drinking/gaming fun with this game. It's great when you enter an almost zen-like state of popping madness!
Are there any other versions for the PC I haven't heard about?

I think it's one of those games that are always fun to play on an arcade, but you quickly get bored of on a console when you can play it incessantly.

I am addicted to Bust-a-Move since i played it back on the N64. Any sort of variation no matter now little or not they changed I make it a point to own so this is something I'm definately looking forward too. Being able to take that game on the road now is a definate plus. I thought I heard/read a while back that they were making one for the PSP. I was looking online for it and have found nothing, but oh well. From what I'm reading the DS seems like the better place to have it anyway.

Gonna be my next DS purchase.
I have a copy for my Neo Geo cabinet. I love the game.

If it supported the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, I'd be first in line. As it is, I already own this game, a lot.

There was a Gameboy Advance version - I got it for my wife, she had some fun with it.

Speaking of Bust-A-Move, this is hilarious (http://www.vgcats.com/comics/). Also, I thought I heard a lot of negative stuff about this game after it's japanese launch...or maybe I'm just high.

My wife loves the series, so I'll be picking this up for an early Xmas present for her, to go along with the DS that I already gave her early.

According to the IGN review, "The Japanese version released just a few months prior, seems to have the tighter presentation, and it even had a bunch more features including the ability create and trade several custom puzzle designs."
I don't know what 'tighter presentation' means, but other than that, it sounds like there's not that much difference. I couldn't care less about creating and trading custom puzzle designs. The love of this game for me is the single player puzzles and the 'endless' mode.

My ex-fiance LOVED B-a-M! It was the only game she would play with me - and she handed my ass to me every damn time.

Super Bust A Move for the PS2 is the only videogame my wife owns. Annnnd we haven't played it in a while. That said, I do enjoy the series, but I agree that after you've played it once, there's really no need to pick up the 800th remake. I can understand getting it for different portable platforms though.

I've loved the series since I first played it on a standing machine long ago. Unfortunatley I haven't even given it a thought for a while now since, as was mentioned, the innumerable iterations have only gunked things up and since it's so heavily puzzle based it doesn't ahve the dynamic replayability that the greatest puzzle games have.

I think I'll go with Elf Bowling.

This (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=P&game_id=9169) type (http://www.womgames.com/index.php) of game (http://gr.bolt.com/oldsite/download/pc/puzzle/bust_a_move_4.htm) has been done (http://www.frozen-bubble.org/) to death (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puzzle_Bobble).
Now for the Nintendo DS.
Oh how I wish it was a good game (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bust_a_Groove) (of the same name... almost). :(
