Wik: Fable of Souls Swings its Way Into Your Living Room and Onto Your Xbox 360 Game Console

Reflexive Entertainment’s award-winning adventure game title is now available for download via Xbox Live Arcade

Microsoft announced today the availability of Wik: Fable of Souls, the action / adventure game title that has taken the Internet by storm – now available for download from Xbox Live Arcade® for Xbox 360. The award-winning Reflexive Entertainment title is the latest of the most impressive entrants to the massively popular Xbox Live Arcade game portfolio.

Xbox Live Arcade, powered by Xbox Live Marketplace, is a central destination for Xbox 360 gamers to discover, download, try and buy smaller game titles directly onto their Xbox 360 console by connecting to Xbox Live. Fully integrated into the Xbox 360 console, gamers can jump straight into Xbox Live Arcade from the Xbox 360 Dashboard, where they can download new games, access their game collection, check out new releases and experience cool around-the-game features.

The full version of Wik is available for download via Xbox Live Marketplace for 800 Microsoft Points. In addition, Xbox 360 gamers with a broadband Internet connection can download a fully functional trial version onto their hard drive or memory unit and experience the game for themselves – for free.

“We are pleased that Wik: Fable of Souls is available so soon after the release of the Xbox 360,” said Ross Erickson, Games Portfolio Manager for the Xbox Live Arcade. “We believe that Wik is a shining example of the type of quality you can expect from the Xbox Live Arcade - now and as we move into the future. We intend to change people’s perception of what a downloadable game is with the release of Wik.”

Simon Hallam of Reflexive Entertainment, the developer of Wik said, “We are obviously very excited that Wik will be featured on Xbox Live Arcade for Xbox 360. Wik has been a true labor of love for us, and we know gamers will appreciate the uniqueness of the game and the character.”

All Xbox Live Arcade titles for Xbox 360 support a full suite of Xbox 360 features, including high-definition output and around-the-game features such as achievements, Gamerscore, custom soundtracks and leaderboards.

Terrible name aside, this adds to the pressure to get a 360 just for the Arcade. Ah that's right, 360 isn't out here.

IGF is a ton of fun. I presented a few of the IGF finalists in the student category at the GDC a handful of years ago.

All sorts of industry veterans and folks from all types of companies were stopping by to wish us luck. I even got to shake the hands of two of the developers for TIE Fighter (omg! starstruck was I).

The IGF award winners are almost always worth your time to look at. Grats to them!

This is damned cool. It's nice to see Microsoft doing stuff like this that's getting independent titles played on console. Normally PC would be the only option for independent stuff, and even then it's sparce (although growing thanks to Steam). Kudos to Microsoft for this (and yes, I never really expected to say that).

Truly Xbox Live Arcade is one of the "killer apps" of the 360. It's tough to pull myself away from some of these addictive, inexpensive games to play "real" games sometimes.

Wik is great fun! It's a bit quirky and dare I say... "out of the box"? I think everyone should give it a shot! Once you play a couple of levels, it becomes second nature to move around that goofy frog/troll.

Check it out!
