In the video Striker gets around 2.1 Million, the current high is around 3.4 million.

This game is like friggin crack; beautiful and colorful geometry crack.

I love Geometry Wars. I find that it's all about how high I can score before my first death. After that I usually lose 3 or 4 lives in the span of about 30 seconds in a mad panic. If you lose your groove in this game you are doomed. I'm still working on scoring 500,000.

Pfft. The best retro game ever is Tetris. After level 19, the pieces fall so fast that you don't have time to press left or right, and you instantly lose.

There are definately some good strategies in this video. I couldn't get to 100k until just yesterday, and now watching this I can hit 150 everytime.

Seems like the way to go is to aggressively carve a narrow path out for yourself in the midst of all the chaos. Easier said than done, though...heh.

I don't know, this guy dies pretty early, at least relatively speaking for his score.

I broke a million last week, but so far haven't been able to replicate it - only reached 972k today. I used to actually give up and reset if I died before 250k, but these days I find I can still get the score jacked up fast. After about 500k, the enemies come so fast that getting your multiplier back up isn't a big issue. Although, obviously, the way to score the most is to stay alive as long as possible. My problem is usually that I'm out of bombs by about 600k.

This is about the time where I start wishing I left some money after my initial purchases to buy a few Microsoft Points and grab myself a copy of the game, and a couple of others whilst I'm at it. I'm stuck playing on the trial version for now, sadly.

heh, thats funny. I never played robotron (or heard of it) but i showed this video to my roommate and he said the same thing. Now he's gonna pick up his copy when he goes home for christmas.

I don't know, maybe it's just the movie but it sure seems that visibility is the most challenging factor. Couple big explosions and you can't see what's going on.

A shame the Japanese aren't buying many 360s, the kids who perfect Ikaruga could probably hit 5 million while text messaging.

Yea, although I haven't played Geometry Wars, it definately is the same game mechanics and spirit as Robotron, although likely plays a bit smoother since Robotron used two digital (8 direction) joysticks and GW gets to use analog sticks (I'm guessing it's using the two analog sticks as it's primary control).

I noticed they updated Live Arcade with some new titles over the last few days. Wik: Fable of Souls and I think some of the Hardwood card games are new.

heh...funny thing is you can't lie about your scores now. You'd be #1 on Live arcade if you got 4...last I checked it was 3.7

Yea, I'm currious too, if it's a 60/40 split that'd be great, even if the developer only got 30%, it'd still kick the crap out of retail. It's safe to assume that MS gets the lion's share though, but the developer cut will still be big enough to ensure many more online titles since the cost of entry is so low.

Dude I just got my 360 bundle yesterday from the rip-off Gamestop bundle online for around 1k. But Ive only played PGR3 for about an hour and the first mission of Call of Duty 2. Every other second of the day has been spent playing Geometry Wars!!!

This is one of those (Robotron) games where you have to get "into the zone". Sometimes you sucks, sometimes you are amazing. Took me a week or two to get to 100K, but now I can do that on a regular basis ;) Keep it up!

I was just thinking the same thing hahaha. I love this game but I've yet to see the plus side of 250k. Ever since I read a quote from PMS GibGirl (www.joystiq.com/entry/1234000070070269/) that one of the tricks is to always look one move ahead to someplace safer on the screen (duh I know but check out the link for other stuff), I've been playing this bad boy WAY too much. This is a not so hidden gem for the 360 and well worth the 400 points ($5 give or take) for the full title.

This has to be one of the most highly contested high score lists out there...frackin' rocks!

Here's a challenge that can make your first couple 100k a little more interesting, if you've been playing far too much and think it's a bit slow around then: try to get more than 100k without dying AND WITHOUT MOVING. Yeah, kinda lame, very lazy, but it helps with the aim and it keeps one arm available for itchin' and drinkin' and eatin' and all kinds of good stuff. I'm up to 125275 so far.
