Dual objectives to fulfill: NSA government agents and terrorists will each want you to accomplish opposing tasks at the same time.
Discover the tension of being a double agent: Use actual tactics employed by today's real-life double agents to sabotage the terrorists' plans.
Explore a branching storyline with multiple endings: Your choices have an impact on how the story and game play unfolds.
A world of international espionage: Missions from all over the world, from Asia to Africa to the heart of the US. Experience extreme situations: underwater or in a sandstorm, hiding behind the dust or smoke - and even skydiving.
New authentic gadgets: Master the latest weapons and gadgets used by NSA government agents in addition to black-market terrorist weapons.
Innovative online play: The critically acclaimed multiplayer action of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell is back with entirely new innovations for each platform.
Seems pretty interesting. Can't wait to see what they are doing on the next-gen platform(s).

Sounds like they bought the DVD sets of Alias.

I kinda like it..sounds cool. I wonder how the choices you make effect the actual game and the events of the game.

I've only tried the Splinter Cell games a couple of times. Not a big fan of the genre... but I have to say... it seems like they are milking it a bit. Is there a new Splinter Cell game every year or less, or is it just my imagination?

I hope this is a more realistic version of KoTOR.
- No obvious feedback (no stupid light-side dark-side meter) just people's reaction to you.
- Actually having to do horrible things within the context of your mission. Actually having to participate in a terrorist attack, kill hostages and the like. Something visceral and emotionally engaging.

I think they could have come up with a lamer title though...Splinter Cell: Rogue Agent...oh, wait a minute that was already taken.

This premise is sounding a lot more interesting than the initial teaser information. For some reason, when I hear of sky diving in a game, I think of MDK.

Seen a cool couple of shots with the skydiving and absailing in an artic region, there was a shot where he is pointing a gun at some hostage/guys head (bound and kneeling) with who is presumably one of the terrorists standing watching. Thats obviously going to be one of the events where it affects your reputation.

Could be good, I really want to see the next gen version.

UnderHero5 -

Yes, they are coming out with each Splinter Cell game rather quickly, but this is one of the few franchises that gets better with every game.

Splinter Cell was a great single player experience. Pandora Tomorrow offered a very interesting single player story with a new genre of multiplayer. Chaos Theory pushed the Xbox's graphics system, offered a very refined and intriguing single player, improved upon the versus multiplayer, and added online co-operative play. People have good reason to be excited about the next installment of this franchise.

I do not know if this is against the rules or not (I could not see anything against it in the FAQ), but scans of a magazine article talking about the 360 version can be found here (http://www.splintercelldoubleagent.net/).

The scans clearly state that this game is being developed purely for the 360, and that the other consoles (XBOX, PS2, GameCube) are going to see versions that are considerably toned down in order to get them to run. I was worried about the fact that the Shanghai studio is leading the development, but the scans also indicate that many members of the Splinter Cell team have moved to Shanghai just for this project. The only thing that I am still conflicted about is whether or not Double Agent is going to be too radically different from the previous games. But as long as it feels like it belongs under the Splinter Cell heading, I will be happy.

Sounds more like 24 to me.

...with some "Sleeper Cell (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0465353/)" tossed in for good measure.

Yeah, after reading through the scans and learning about the planned changes in versus mode, I am very excited for this game to be released. I am also curious to see this 'spy vs spy' mode exclusive to current gen platforms.

It is not exclusive to the current generation. The scans I linked stated that it will *also* be on the XBOX et al. I am also very interested in it. It will hopefully alleviat the argument over who gets to play as the spies in online games, and the assholes who drop out when it is their turn to play as the mercs. Assholes.

I'm pretty sure the article implies that spy vs spy is exclusive to current gen...

Page 7 says:

"As the Xbox and PS2 versions of Double Agent simply can't feature the same online ranking system as the 360, these versions will see the debut of the long-awaited spy versus spy multiplayer, which won't be available on the next-gen release."

Ugh, writing "luk" is pretty stoopid...

And why isn't this game being developed for the PC, when the PC versions of the previous three are the best ones? The graphics on the PC version of CT are really amazing.

Urrrm it is in development for the PC too? As far as I've heard and been told.
