Gamegossip (http://gamegossip.com/) has posted (http://gamegossip.com/comment.php?id=15958) February 28, 2006 as the shipping date for Criterion's FPS Black February 28, 2006.

The game is being developed for the Xbox and PlayStation 2.

This game looks so grand. Hope it ends up playing as awesome as it looks. First console FPS I've been interested in in a long time.

Agreed, $$$. There's only a 100 million PS2's and some 40-50 million XBoxes with people who actually BUY games.

I just wish this was for the X360!

This reminds me an awful lot of Killzone (the first one). Hype, hype, hype, "It looks so good!" blah blah blah. Then WHOOPS! The technology wasn't quite finished and they sort of forgot to make it fun for more than five minutes at a time.

Maybe I'll be proved wrong. Maybe not.

I don't know if I can handle so many explosions. I need to get my surround system back by then.

..."Black puts players in a tactical squad that defends the U.S. from threats both foreign and domestic."

(Yawn...) Sounds awful "Rainbow Six" to me, but then again I am a firm believer that "the industry"has hit the proverbail plateau when it comes to ideas for FPS, relying solely on the hype machine to make many games sparkle. Bitterness, you are my muse...

Of all the atrocities of the world, why would they NOT release a FPS to the PC?

There was the money issue as someone already pointed out, but more importantly Criterion has pretty much exclusively created console games. This is not to say they couldn't break out of that, but it'd be surprising.

As for all the concerns about the game, such as the post about it being like Killzone, I'm not as worried simply because it's by Criterion. Assuming these guys can make an FPS as tightly as they make a racer, then this thing is fucking gold.

If you've seen gameplay videos, you'd know it looks nothing like Rainbow Six, even if the description makes it sound so.

I know I'm getting it launch day... I still can't believe it's on the PS2 with how pretty it is.

I don't recall myself saying that it "looked" like Rainbow Six. As a matter of fact, I didn't make a comment even pertaining to the way the game "looked" at all. I was commenting on the tired premis that the game was seemingly based on. (Seemingly, due to details being sketchy.) Throw all the graphical goodness in that you want, but it takes more than that to make something worthwhile.

When I said "looked", I didn't really mean graphics-wise. I meant the way the game seems to play based on gameplay footage that has been released. I could care less about graphics.

So happy we got that cleared up...

I need to be more careful about when I use the word 'looked'. :p I've had this 'KEFKATARAN ONLY CARES ABOUT GRAPHICS!" mix-up happen a few times cause of it, when that's the furthest thing from the truth.
