Looks like King Kong for the 360 is too dark to play on the XBox 360, according to an article on the BBC's website. Even head honcho at Ubisoft, Yves Guillemot, has advised not to play the game on the a 360 with a standard TV.

We have a problem on the 360. The screen is dark on some TVs and it totally changes the experience. When it's dark, you don't see where you have to go.

D'oh!

I guess that there'll soon be some good XBOX360 related news one day.

I'm sorry but this guy deserves the award for worst PR EVER

"He recommended that fans of the movie stick to the version for more established games consoles."
"When you play on an Xbox or a PlayStation 2, you start to see that it is beautiful," he said.
Translation - Don't buy this version, it's a bit sucky oh and it still looks nice on the older consoles.. honest.. yeah well done mate ;)

That's what you get when you make a game for the best things and forget about what everyone else can afford

I've had this problem with the 360 version...had to turn the brightness up on the projector....felt like the old Doom days where you had to do that to see where to go.

If Valve software made the game, they would suggest:

1) Buying an HDTV
2) Unplugging and replugging in the console
3) Disconnect your router from your cable modem, and run a straight line to the xbox360.
4) Update your 360's BIOS
5) Use 5.1 speakers instead of stereo speakers
Etc.

Sadly, NONE of the advice is ever helpful, related, or easy to do.
I've been playing on Steam recently... can you tell?

I've noticed this myself when my Dad brought his 360 over and we played on our standard TV... I was thinking to myself "I KNOW it's supposed to look better than THIS, but I can't see a damn thing!?" and then when I went to his house one day and checked it out on his HDTV, it was an entirely different experience. I have to echo dolbex here... this was just a fucking STUPID slip-up.

IMO ubisoft releases some of the buggiest software for consoles (2nd to EA of course). All the ghost recons, rainbow six 3s, and splinter cells all had issues that needed patching on day 1. The fact that they rushed this game out the door without plugging it into a standard tv does not surprise me a bit.

Is it JUST king kong.. or is it all games/movies?

I read this in a couple reviews. Sometimes the player would get stuck in a cave because it was literally pitch black. They could not see the exit to get out. They would have to wander around until they randomly found the door.

I can guarantee that the testers noticed this. And that management over-ruled it. When a game is made for a movie, it has absolutely no room for delays. It HAS to be out when the movie comes out. So lots of stuff is ignored in order to meet deadlines. So don't blame the little guys. It is usually the management ordering them to not do their jobs.

I hope this doesn't become a trend among third party 360 titles...

lol, you know, I generally have to turn up the brightness for a lot of games.

I normally just switch my TV to the "Vivid" picture mode before playing any console games.

Dunno. But this seems like a PERFECT thing that the Xbox Guide/Dashboard should be able to control on a per-game basis.

You mean it doesn't? Ugh.. I was hoping some clever guy at Microsoft would figure out how useful such a feature would be.
