Don't want wireless controllers? Or maybe you have some extra wired ones lying around?

You can use a USB hub (http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/news/usb-hub-confirmed-working-on-xbox-360.htm) to connect them all.

We can confirm Xbox 360 support for USB hubs, our test subject was a four port mini USB hub.

Four wired controllers can be connected to a single hub and all four controllers appear to work and [are] addressed as 1-4. No 4 player in-game test as of yet but individual controllers navigated dash board etc.

I don't really see what's so amazing with this?

It should be noted that the controllers themselves actually contain USB hubs. :p With the Xbox controller you had the headset adapter, the memory unit, and the controller itself as devices off the integrated hub. With the 360 controller, the headset adapter is built-in so there's no custom ports on it.

This is normal for PCs... for 360 it means that the USB driver is actually a pretty solid one instead of the classic stripped down console version (multi-tap anybody?).

But if you have use standard controllers and multi-tap it's just not standard USB, so I don't see your point.

I bought Buzz! The Music Quiz for my Playstation 2 a few days ago, and that game comes bundles with four buzzers instead of ordinary controllers, all connected to a hub which connects to one USB port on the console.

For us its amazing. Think of having a room full of wireless controls and the problems could potentially cause...

I apologize for partially taking this off-topic but this is a question about the 360 controllers and the thread is related to that. If I am using a wireless controller for the 360, how long does the charge on the controller last? Are we talking 8 hours? 16 hours? Is the battery easily replaceable? What happens when the battery runs out? Are you SOL as far as controlling the 360 (getting out of a game to save or shut off properly, etc). I haven't seen these types of question asked yet.

The point is you can use a standard USB hub that you can buy anywhere.

My controller seems to eat batteries, I've run through the two sets that came with the machine and switched rechargables in it at least four times. I use live a lot and I think it is powering the head set that really steals all the juice in the batteries so theey may last much longer when just playing offline.

The ring of light on your controller will start to periodically flash at you once you get down to less than a half charge and you can check the charge (full, three quarters, half one quarter) by clicking the guide button at any time.

It uses double AAs so I just picked up a battery charger. I would've bought a play and charge kit but everywhere around here had them sold out. I understand not being able to manufacure enough consoles but not being able to create enough USB cables seems odd.

I have the MSoft battery and play and charge. My guess with periodic headset use etc I get around 20-24 hours out of the controller.

If this works during gameplay, then Microsoft could make a patch that would let you use both usb ports (there are two right?) with hubs for maybe some 8 player party style action. Doubt it'd happen but it's not a bad idea anyway.
