Majesco (http://www.majescoentertainment.com/) has announced via an official press release (http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=82416&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=795523&highlight=) that they have sold off the publishing rights of The Darkness and Ghost Rider to an undisclosed company. The Darkness is based on the Top Cow comic book and is being developed by Starbreeze. The title is slated (http://www.gametab.com/xbox360/darkness.the/4160/) to be released at the end of January in 2006. The Ghost Rider title is an adaptation of the upcoming Marvel Comics movie.

Thanks to Gamecloud (http://www.gamecloud.com/) for the tip. (http://www.gamecloud.com/article.php?article_id=2659)

So they sell off these two, but keep Jaws?

My guess is EA. They could even use this to get more fighters in their next crappy Super Smash wannabe.

That sucks...Majesco fought hard to come back...now its eems like they are going away for good. Only because of one bad game, and no support from us for one great game.

Yeah, me and OSX here seem to be the only ones who want to capsize boats. What's wrong with the rest of you?

I always wanted to end Jaws differently, so playing a game where I can dodge the oxygen tank and eat that yuppie wannbe pirate will be rather satisfying.

The press release states that they got $8.000.000 for the sale, that should help them a bit... but I'm surprised that they decided to sell off these games.

They may have just gotten in over their heads. The GBA Video did really well for them, but high-ish profile games they picked up may have been too much too soon for them. I doubt they'll go out of business.
