Star Wars: The Old Republic Video Documentary #2

The official Star Wars: The Old Republic website has been updated with a second Video Documentary (http://www.swtor.com/news/article/20090313_002). 'Watch as the LucasArts and BioWare teams reveal how Story and Setting will enhance the player experience.'

In addition, Issue #2 (http://www.swtor.com/media/webcomic/act1?comicpage=4) of the Old Republic online comic is now available.

I would be totally ramped up for this game, but I still can't get the bitter taste of SWG out of my mouth. I'm aware this isn't the same team that made SWG, I'm just saying I don't want to be terribly dissappointed again.

this is the one MMO i want to succeed. i believe it could co-exist with Wow perfectly.

My thoughts exactly... However if there is one up and coming "ANNOUNCED" MMO that I want to work it's this one. I hated SWG beyond any MMO I've tried. I don't know why but I literally hated it and would never wish the experience on anyone, but that's just my opinion. However seeing this game and it's documentary really is giving me high hopes for this game. I still enjoy wow, but I too want something else. Starcraft MMO would be awesome, but the mutiplayer guild features Diablo III is going to have will be a great MMO experience that really isn't an MMO.

I think we're still a ways out, but I hope to see this game soon!

Sounds like a win to me, but want more details on how PvP and even just PwP (player WITH player) interactions are gonna work.

I've always had the most fun delving into the single player/story aspects in WoW even though playing with friends/guildmates was a great new experience for me as a gamer.

Once I burn through the story content in WoW I'd get burned out and stop playing after raiding a few times.

This seems right up my alley.

I disagree. I think that would be a horrible combat system for an MMO. It would be all button mashing. I think they have everything looking perfect for me so far. The idea and the looks of the game is exactly what my roommate and I have been talking about for years, so I'm super hyped. I actually took this idea to one of the people representing Galaxies at one of the conventions, but it seemed like she had no idea what I was talking about.

NO YOU CANNOT, SIR! Because everyone cries about WOW clones, but there are a lot of great things that WOW offers, like the graphics which I think will be even better in this game. I think the story like system will also blow Wow up! However, you may still worry about the PVP system cuz I don't know how that will work, but it will be excellent, I'm sure.

I consider myself retired from MMO gaming - the grind and raid aspects of it in particular - but I'm warming to this game on the basis that their plan seems to be to design a single player Star Wars RPG that will have some kind of multiplayer aspects as well. If they keep extending the content and story lines with regular episodic releases it will be something like a subscription based KotOR that doesn't end.

KOTOR was one of the best games ever made, IMO.

That said, the way it was made does indeed lend itself to an MMORPG setting. It's set in a universe where Jedi are plentiful, and the challenges can reflect this. So, while SWG failed because everyone wanted to be a Jedi, KOTOR may have a chance, because the world it's set in is designed for it.

In KOTOR you could switch between party members at will. It would be just as easy to turn that into a multi-player capability. And the ability to play a droid as a character is tantalizing also, especially one with attitude and great lines.

I agree with Mephistopheles, if they perfect a multiplayer KOTOR, that sounds like a winner to me.
