Epic Games and GameSpot have released (http://www.gamespot.com/promos/2005/ut2004/) the new Unreal Tournament 2004 Mega Pack. "This latest patch from Epic Games will give you everything you need to update UT2004 to the most current version, including nine new Deathmatch, Assault, and CTF maps. The patch also includes all of the content from the first (Editor's Choice Edition) bonus pack for UT2004."

Mega Pack includes the following maps:

AS-BP2-Acatana: Intense space fighting and on-foot combat combine in this recreation of the historic Skaarj invasion of the Acatana asteroid belt.

AS-BP2-JumpShip: Be part of the elite team that infiltrated and hijacked the first warp capable Jumpship.

AS-BP2-Outback: City slickers just took over the outback's top brewery - get over there pronto and stop the production of their tasteless Zero Beer before it takes over Oz!

AS-BP2-SubRosa: Fight your way into a Liandri research facility and steal the original plans for the Redeemer.

AS-BP2-Thrust: A recreation of the infamous destruction of the Saturn IX rocket where a team of rebel fighters launched it unguided and half fueled into hostile waters.

CTF-BP2-Concentrate: Tall spires tower over this Capture the Flag battle set on a derelict outpost deep in the Elorean Seas.

CTF-BP2-Pistola: This twin complex of concrete and metal combines the beauty of nature with the harsh lines of industrial architecture to create a fierce battle arena.

DM-BP2-Calandras: The courtyards of Calandras were once beautiful and welcoming. While the Temple's interiors have been preserved, a new less-inviting use has been found for the exteriors.

DM-BP2-GoopGod: For centuries the Nali monks managed to keep this sacred burial ground hidden until Liandri satellites discovered the location during a routine satellite sweep. The area was mined, and what remained was converted into a tournament arena, corpses and all.

So that's now 189 maps for UT2004, if you include all the official packs, and all the officially honored third-party packs. All of them beautiful. It's amazing what you can get for paying $20 for the retail DVD, and having broadband to download all the packs. One of the best values in PC gaming to date.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Kudos to Epic!

I'd like to see Epic support all of these maps when they roll out their new engine next year, or even to upgrade their visual quality, similar to what Valve did with Source.

Somebody remind me why I should be paying $25-30 for a Battlefield 2 expansion instead of continuing to play this game?

Do everyone a favor and list what you consider the official packs and the officially honored third-party packs.

I would be interested to see if I was missing anything.

If only more people played this awesome game.Yeah, too bad all the instagib-and-every-crappy-mod-turned-on kids ruined it.

That's why I am hoping UT2007 for the 360 uses a Halo 2 type matchmaking system. "You WILL vary the gametype, you bastards!"

I know, why cant they just play the game the way it should be played, WITH NO STUPID MUTATORS! God when the game was released it was so much better.

There are so few vanilla servers that I really prefer to simply play offline with bots... mutators are a cool idea but I wouldn't be at all sad to see them removed entirely.

If they removed them all together I'd jump for joy.

Right here:

But this new Mega Pack is the replacement for the Editor's Choice Edition pack, so don't download that old one. Note though, that there are about 4-5 duplicate maps now, because in this new pack, they took a few old ones from previous packs and updated them. But the file names are changed, therefor they wont replace the old versions. That kinda sucks.

While I would consider myself to be a pretty big Valve fanboy, Epic really knocks the stew out of em when it comes to content updates.

I find it very tough to compare 189 very well done maps to 9 or 10, also very well done, but just that, 9 or 10.

I've always been disappointed in the lack of variety in Counter-Strike.
