According to Reuters (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20051213/tc_nm/media_videogames_dc) Microsoft should be shipping 300,000 more 360's this coming week in North America. This is almost the same amount of 360's that were available at Launch in North America.
McNealy said he believed Microsoft had 300,000 to 400,000 units for the launch in North America, around 300,000 for the European launch and 100,000 for Japan. He expects Microsoft to ship another 300,000 units in the next week in North America, which would put the total at about 1 million units. Additional shipments would be required at month end to reach McNealy's 1.5 million to 1.8 million target.
Good news if this is true!

The Best Buy I work at will have about 50 in starting Sunday...and it's even in next week's ad so I'd imagine that all stores will have at least a few.

I've decided to hold off getting a 360... Why? Because, aganist my wishes, my girlfriend's entire fucking family is comming to stay at my house for christmas... With 3 little kids itching to bust, scratch, and destroy anything that might be of any value to me, including my dignity. So fuck em.
Does this make me a bad, selfish person? probably... but fuck it.

Yup. Even when I was only like, hrm, must have been 5 or so, I remember not wanting to let the other kids near my Vic-20 because they'd break it. Lo and behold, the one time I got yelled at to "share" the computer, some stupid prick spelled Coke all over the machine and destroyed it. Fucking savages.

The remote that is sold separately has more features than the remote included in the first shipment, correct?
If so, I wouldn't sweat this because I'd probably buy the one with more features anyway.

As far as I know EB Games got a generous supply--our little mall store, with an average of 2 employess at any given time, got twice as many as any other store in town, save Best Buy which had 3 times our total.
So what happened to "steady shipments?" This is the second shipment, and if it's true it's huge--couldn't they have released them gradually, instead of making us constantly tell person #26 on the preorder list we have retreated from "assuredly before Christmas" to "hopefully before your corpse begins to putrefy?"
Good news, I hope. I'm 7th on the call list for my local store, so as long as they get at least 10 (hopefully all premium bundles), I'll be sitting pretty.

1. She's your girlfriend, not your wife. She can't do jack to you against your wishes. And, if they break anything, send her the bill. Tail is cheap compared to personal dignity. I just went through a divorce, though, so I could be a little bitter.
2. Just because you buy it doesn't mean they have to see it. Hide it. And if they find it and break it, bill their parents. Or hurt them. Whichever feels better.

This just in,
A UPS truck got lost in a heavy storm snow on the way to Anchorage. Reports coming in of 150 XBOX 360s not arriving on time.
On another topic,
Ebay "360 Snow Dig Experience" vacation bundles are selling for $800 a pop.

I always thought I was lonely when I had no girlfriend... Now everyday I'm constantly wishing I had like 5 fucking spare seconds to myself...
I never thought when she moved in it would be "that big a deal"... But a word of advice : NEVER LET A GIRL MOVE IN WITH YOU UNLESS YOU ARE READY TO THROW A RING ON HER FINGER. Because it's basically the same motherfucking thing....
They put down roots and grow like an agressive fungus, destroying most of your old REAL friendships (espicially computer game buds), and forging new ones with people you don't even really like.
Ugg I'm so fucking sick of it.... She's probably why I'm so pissed off all the goddamn time and have high blood pressure...

So, once again, since there were none for weeks and now there is a big shipment of 300,000 (and this isn't just Best Buy from the sounds of it, it's everyone)...
Does that mean that Major Nelson is a liar about weekly shipments?

OT!
From my experience, the "burdensome" girlfriend is invariably created by the guy who refuses to set boundaries as the relationship progresses. A lot of that happens naturally as your boundaries blur and you become an intimate couple, but it is not an impossible task to define or redefine those boundaries. It just requires work, willpower, and a whole lot of patience.
I'd recommend creating a short list of "must have" boundaries, such as "must have 10 hours a week of undisturbed gaming time". If you cannot set even the simplest boundaries, you are in for a long haul insofar as your lovelife is concerned.

My understanding is that there are a number of waypoints between MS and your grubby little mitts. They ship them to distribution sites, which are then sent to local distribution sites, which are then sent to stores, and so on. I have no experience with any of this (I think others could shed a lot more light on this than I could) but I don't think that Nelson is 'lying' exactly.

Yeah, but I'd still rather have the "free" one that was suppose to come with my first shipment preorder that has yet to arrive versus shelling out extra bucks to have one because Microsoft dropped the ball on meeting the public demand, let alone the preorder demand to which they were promised.

Break that whip and convert her to gaming. Sims, Animal Crossing, whatever it takes. I started the integration slow. First with text twist and on to more advanced flash games. SNES emulation was next. By now, SHE is the one who wants to play Soul Calibur.

No, it will actually be quite less than that considering, believe it or not, that North America also includes Mexico and Canada. I would probably expect something like 200 000 to hit the States with the remaining 100 000 to be split between Canada and Mexico (with the majority probably going to Canada).
I personally wanted to hold off until E3 2006 so that I could actually have some real information on the PS3 and Revolution, but I just did a quick budget and I have more than enough money to cover this coming semester and the next. With a payraise due in the Spring, and the inevitable Christmas checks from the family, I no longer have a financial excuse to hold off, and that was all that was keeping me sane. I would not be surprised if my will power fails me yet again and there is a shiny 360 under my TV by the end of the year.

Almost ready to drive my car to my In-Laws when we go this weekend and then camp out at Best Buy for the night at 11 PM, sit in my car, seeing if anyone else shows up then get in line 2nd or 3rd just to make sure I get one on the 18th.

they should change the chips in the japanese releases and just send them back there, that would make everyone happier.
in any case, what are they up to as far as original game releases for the 360? 2 games? with everything else just a rehash of existing shit?
ummm, i think i'll wait for the 3rd price cut myself.

As the father of two young children...and both fo these kids love electronics, I completely understand. My son started playing games at just around 2 years old with James Bond on Xbox, and now I have to share my gaming time with him. LOL He's great with it until he decides to explore and delete years worth of saves...
Seriously, keep them away, and although your gaming needs will have to wait, it's better than buying it and having to A) suffer while your gf let's them play and\or B) have them break your new machine.
P.S. Now my son has his own PS1, GBA, VSmile and Xbox.

You know what, I had the same problem over Thanksgiving. I had just got my 360, and decided to not hook it up until after her family left. I had to suffer simply to save it.
Hilarious thread hijack! My girlfriend lives with me, and we have a dog. I don't have problems gaming or hanging out with my friends due to the girlfriend, they are all due to the dog. He's awesome, like my kid really, but when it comes to gaming, it is very difficult when he wants some attention. And I have the responsibility to take him out and feed him during the day, so it makes it tougher to go hang out with my friends for long periods like I used to. Now I bring him with, or have them come here. Saturday night, I went to my friends' place and brought the dog. It's cool, they like him, and he bugs them as much as me while playing games so it evens the field.
Anyway, back on the subject, I hope that they really are shipping 300k systems. According the GrinR's 360 tracking thread link, it looked like the Best Buy's are getting far less this time around though.

I hope Gamestop is getting some so I can get my Pre Order.
Yeah, they got their's in over the weekend (that's when my order status went from "back ordered" to "Usually ships in 24 hours". Mine came in today, but I didn't get back from work until after the apartment staff went home, so it's now sitting locked in the mail room. I'm currently researching how to pick locks... ;)
BTW, anyone else who ordered from Gamestop notice how your order changed? They cancelled the free product replacement plan as well as the strategy guides (no big loss there). I wouldn't have minded if they cancelled the two extra controllers and chargers as well as Quake 4 and Madden '06, but them cancelling the product replacement plan after I ordered is a big FU to the customer. Even if nothing goes wrong, I'm never ordering from Gamestop again.

Sorry, that doesn't pass the smell test, but nice try :) That is exactly why I said "(and this isn't just Best Buy from the sounds of it, it's everyone)" I would buy the distribution line if this was one place (like best buy, or eb, or gamestop) but since it is ALL OF THEM, the bottle neck must come from earlier in the chain of supply. Which leads me to believe that Microsoft is in fact releasing 300,000 machines at the same time and is not releasing them weekly as Major Nelson falsely said.
Again, I have no problem with Microsoft doing this. What I do have a problem with in when spokesmen for a company lie. Obviously Microsoft was trying to pass the buck to retailers, but facts have a funny way of stepping on spin.

I would agree, and had the same thought. Unless they were trickling out so few each week that no one noticed because mostly just employees were taking them home, I think this is literally the "second US wave" and it's been taking so long because of the units they had to manufacture for Europe and Japan.
Honestly, I wouldn't have minded, but when they KEEP SAYING weekly, I was calling my local stores weekly, and being more and more disapointed each week. It's enough. I just want a freaking date, when will I have one? How hard can it be to know something like this? We aren't talking about a video game release date, it's a piece of hardware shipping to stores, right?

I feel your pain. I pre-ordered in August from GameStop and haven't got mine yet. Here's my theory..
Microsoft already has my money in thier books, why worry about supplying pre-orders when they can "re-sell" our 360's to the Best Buy campers? Then that way they can count that money on thier books as well and get around to filling pre-orders at thier leisure. Don't get me wrong, they are filling pre-orders. Just not at the rate that they are selling them to Best Buy, etc.

Catkins, MS doesn't have your money, Gamestop does. If you haven't gotten yours after pre-ordering it in August, that's Gamestop's fault. I orderred last week and got mine yesterday. You should call up Gamestop and ask what the hell's going on with your order.

You make an excellent point. Don't those who preordered deserve to get the "special edition" remote? Its not their fault that the store and MS ended up screwing them over (mostly the store imo).

I've called them several times and asked when my 360 would be available for pickup. Every time I call, I get a different answer. I noticed that you can buy an XBOX 360 "bundle" package at gamestop online for about $1000.
Real fucking nice.
No matter how they spin it, gamestop re-sold my pre-ordered 360 as a "bundle" package. What a crock of shit. They'll never get my business again.

After I discovered that gamestop was re-selling pre-ordered XBOX 360's online, I sent them an angry email asking them what was going on. I asked them how in the hell can you have pre-orders that haven't been filled, yet still selling XBOX "Bundles" online?
Here's thier response:
Dear Customer,
The ones we are selling online are order that were initially pre-orders at our online store, but they either cancelled their order or their credit card didn’t go through. We are unable to give any of these items to the stores thought because of different inventory. We apologize for the inconvenience and distress this may have caused. We will still be attempting to fulfill stock for our stores as quickly as we are able to do so.
Thank you for writing to us at GameStop.com
We value your business and hope to see you soon at GameStop.com
WTF? When I asked my local store's manager earlier this month what happened if someone who pre-ordered wasn't able to pick up his/her 360 for whatever reason? He told me that they would then "call the next person on the list".
What a crock of shit.
And do they actually think I've going to believe any thing like "We are unable to give any of these items to the stores though because of different inventory".
What does that even mean, lol..
Anyway, I went to my store and got my money back. I called them ealier in the day to see if they had got thier shipment. They said they had, but were too busy to see how many they recieved. I went to the store that night and the guy I talked too denied ever getting a shipment in that day. I reminded him of our phone conversation and he started to sweat. What a fuckin tool.
