Even though Turok didn't do as well as the suit-types would have hoped, the sequel may not have been all bad (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3173226).
Propaganda Games may have been working on the greatest feature for a modern video game ever conceived: playable freakin' dinosaurs.
Voodoo Extreme discovered a series of proposed Turok 2 interface mockups from former Propaganda user interface specialist Garrett Knights and noticed an option to alter the controls of Turok and...dinosaurs.
We don't know much more than that, but the idea of controlling dinosaurs is enough. Turok 2 may be cancelled, but Disney, Playable Dinosaurs: The Game is still a great idea. You can have that idea free of charge.
So. Cool.

Didn't one of the older Turok games on the N64 have playable dinosaurs in multiplayer? It sucked.

Playable dinosaurs? I can't think, in 20 years of playing games, a way in which that would be even close to fun.

Heard about Turok 2 being canceled. What a shame; we have tons and tons of clones of the same type of FPS games come out and a series of one that's somewhat different and intense is canned. How ridiculous.
Seriously, the MP was mediocre, but the campaign did something an FPS' campaign does: entertain me. I thought that dinosaurs in a realistic setting with the graphical capabilities of this generation was exhilarating.

I think the meat of Turok, a guy fighting against Dinosaurs with sci fi elements mixed in, is one of those ideas that will never really go far away. It's encoded into our DNA to mix our past with our future and wonder "what if".
I think the problem is that the game needs to focus more on that and less on trying to do "FPS" in a marketable way.

Canceled? That's a little disappointing, and the first I've heard of it. I liked last year's title although a lot of people didn't.
Hopefully it'll be revived somehow.

Seriously? If they did it right, like the hunters in L4D, it could be awesome.

Yes it did, infact it was Turok 2: Seeds of Evil. I have to say that while I respect your opinion, I believe you are incorrect sir, because playing as the raptor was awesome. Indeed, playing Turok 2 multiplayer with my friends with a lone raptor and a dinosaur hunt type scenario is one of the highlights of my N64 days.

Rage Wars also had dinos, but it sucked all around.

As crazy as this sounds, Turok 2 Seeds of Evil PC Multiplayer is literally one of the best multiplayer games I've ever played. Right up there with UT, Halo and whatever else. And yes, you could play as the Raptor. Speaking of "cool" things that the Turok series "invented"....many of you may not now that Turok Evolution had a gravity gun way before Half Life 2 did.
Too bad no one can seem to make another great TUROK game. Oh well.

You could also play as dinosaurs in Carnivores: Cityscape but you only had claw attacks, which got old fast.

Yes it is a shame, but if the IP goes up for sale again it has a possibility for greatness.
Just needs to find the right developer.

What it came down to was that it seemed extremely pointless to play as a melee-only dinosaur when everyone else was running around with guns.

Point taken. Primal Rage was awesome. :)

Ironically that was also called Turok 2. It was aight, one of the few FPSs for N64 that used the expansion-pak. Single player was pretty robust, too.
