In news sure to send shivers of anticipation through the gaming industry, Running With Scissors has announced the existence of a third game in the long running Postal series of games. If you feel so inclined, you can read all about it by clicking here (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=62118).

Thanks to Eurogamer (http://www.eurogamer.net) for the story.

Following a brief update on the film ("Uwe Boll IS still the director ... we've already taken the money"), RWS' latest newsletter announces the development of Postal 3: Catharsis for Xbox 360 and PC, and says very little else about it. "Let the questions and suggestions pour forth," it declares.
I have a suggestion - stop right now! The world does not need another Postal!

Okay, I enjoyed Postal and the demo for Postal 2. They are such pure stupid sophomoric fun. Also, the Gary Coleman cheat is just classic. :)

My problem is that stores never carried Postal 2, and so I never played the full version of the game. Thinking about getting it right now. . . since it appears to be available as a downloadable purchase (http://www.gopostal.com/store/PORTAL/downloadable.php).

Still, I think I'll just buy that Scrabble game (http://www.viquagames.com/games/thomas/) that Penny Arcade linked yesterday. It is a ton of fun. . . only problem is that I think I'll probably end up buying it on Xbox Live someday too.

I actually liked some of Postal2. Played it through and had some fun.
It was refreshing to play in the city with the punk-ass Postal dude. So many FPS's have the war-setting with the extremly linear path to take all the way through.
You were never in doubt of where to go and plenty of things to see if you decided to go you own way.
I liked the small touches, like de-capitating someone and playin around with the head infront of the dog. Once you did that the dog would follow you around. Or when you got mugged and woke up in a cellar with some rednecks - and later (watching a mirror) you found out you were wearing a gimp-leather-costume.
Great stuff.

It had some serious issues (frustrating to pass certain things and the loading).
If it had been a movie I would call it a b-movie, with some nice touches here and there (b-gameplay doesn't sound so good).

I'm sure Uwe is gonna make it one crap-tastic c-movie (like always).

How is this game selling at all?

I have to say that I found Postal 2 to be some decent, moronic fun. It was pretty open and roaming and gave just enough variety to keep things from getting boring. The expansion pack was horrific - it sucked all of the fun from the game ... I even replayed Postal 2 again afterwards, and it was still pretty fun.

Am I looking forward to this? Not really, but I'll keep an eye ...

It's not becuase it's not out yet. :p

However, the games have sold historically due to their notoriety.

I hope we get to burn some "social conservatives" in Postal 3.

Postal 2 was "fun" for about an hour, until you had pretty much done everything there was to do.

All I know is that Postal 2 allowed me to burn people alive, and then roll their corpses off a hill, making a pile of scorched bodies... and then take a piss on that pile. It may not be the next F.E.A.R. but if they can make Postal 3 have some of the same stupid fun, I'll be cool with it.

Never really played Postal 2 due to the crappy reviews, but Postal 1 was pretty decent. So one good/decent game and one game that most people thought was crappy (but has a few supporters) does not a bad series make.

'eh, Postal2 was the first game I worked on professionally and more than any other "edgy" "alternative" styled games this one really is just made by a small handful of guys in an office in the middle of nowhere who want to have some fun and piss off people who take themselves too seriously. I'd say just enjoy it for what it is.

Seems pretty imminant that the movie isn't going to be a 5 star affair... no real position on that except that mr. suck-ass director man needs to retire.

Even that guy seems over-qualified for the job.

Looks like I'm going to have to dust off my resume and send it over again. I always wanted to get into the game industry, and they're right here in my town.

Not to mention, I had a lot of fun with Postal 2. I found it cathartic.

Hmm... I just realized that's the title of the 3rd one. Nice :)

Postal 2 was a hell of a lot of fun with the shovel and the catnip. Knock heads over fences and back again. Great laugh. My girlfriend couldn't get enough of pissin in peoples faces, making them puke then while they were bent over knocking their heads sky high with the shovel.
