View Full Version : German School Shooter Played Counter-Strike
Just to make you all aware of the impending nightmare this will no doubt cause the friend of the German school shooter Tim Kretschmer, calling himself only 'Aki', has indicated that he and the criminal played Counter-Strike together. From the AP. (http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5g-7Dbm7W0ADoXhfKS2O_sUrZu4NwD96S47T01)
Boehm told The Associated Press that the shooter claimed fellow students at the high school had mocked him, and that teachers there ignored him.
A 17-year-old who would give only his first name, Aki, said he had been studying this year with the shooter at a private business school, and described him as a quiet, reserved person.
Aki said the two played poker together, both in person and online, as well as a multiplayer video game called "Counter-Strike" that involves killing people to complete missions.
"He was good," Aki said.
Heads up.

Darn...pressed "Enter" too quickly.
Also didn't help that his dad was a gun club member with 16 guns of varying types at home. That had nothing to do with it. I bet, as well, that this kid has been to the firing range, considering the amount of damage he caused.

Yup, Always new poker was a gateway to mass murder.

NO! It's this "quiet, reserved person" thing! We need to lock these people up! You never hear about a guy who goes on a shooting spree that was described by neighbors as an "loud and in your face kind of person". It's always the quiet ones. They need to start sending these people to prison before it's too late!

My brother's quiet...why would he have any reason to go on a shooting spree? I'm quiet. My other brother's quiet. I assume my dad's quiet. Are we just the "good" kind of quiet, or am I hating stereotypes even more than usual?

No edit button, but I wish to add that the first brother mentioned is actually someone who would look like he would go on a shooting spree, he's even closer to the stereotype than the rest of us....then again, the rest of us wear glasses. But my other brother loses them and hardly needs them.

People who bottle up (quiet) are more likely to 'snap' and do something. People that are generally dicks all the time don't bottle anything up, therefore have a lower anger build up

It's only a matter of time (years) before people understand that games have nothing to do with violent behavior or early death.
Comic books were also the Devil not too long ago, and now Hollywood is making big budget movies from comic books. I'm wondering what will be the next misconceived evil after gaming!
It's been said over and over again, the biggest influence in a children's life is their parents, but even then, children can turn out normal if their parents were missing or weren't interested (my case). The opposite is also true. You could have great parents and become a serial killer.
We just don't know enough about mental illnesses. People suffering from these diseases are afraid to talk about it, fearing to be labeled as crazy by everyone. They suffer in silence most of the time. I think the real problem is there. We aren't ready to accept that more people are affected by mental illnesses than we think. Here in Quebec, there are more people dying by killing themselves than people dying of car accidents or cancer. That's absolutely shocking considering most of these people were young and had great potential... we had a chance to save them but we couldn't.
Unfortunately some people feel the need to bring other people in their deaths... that, I will never understand!

Mental illness is nearly always overlooked in a school environment. Not even just that, anything a student may need to see one of the useless school "counselors" for usually just ends up alienating them. Lets not forget that "bullying is part of growing up" right?
I bet this guy also listened to music and watched movies. We should ban those too.

Its that cursed one-eyed jack on the cards! He wispers to me too. Wants me to do naughty things... He never told me to kill anyone though. Must be different for others.
DAMN YOU ONE-EYE JACK!! DAMN YOU AND YOUR MISSING EYE! WHERE IS IT HE ASKS ME!! WHERE IS MY GODDAMN EYE!?
I say "I dont know Jack.". Then he says "FIND IT ASSHOLE, OR HIT YOURSELF IN THE NUTS WITH A HAMMER!!".
I never find it...

I think he breathed, ate food, and drank water, as well! ;)
If we just ban oxygen, food and water, there will be no more murders, EVER!
Mental illness is nearly always overlooked in a school environment.
I'm a teacher, and it's quite obvious to me that many of my coworkers...uh, I mean, students...are nuts! ;)
just the media looking for another way to justify crazy people and their crazy behavior. most people nowadays DO play videogames........and?
it's old and played out, man.
@hartman: my feelings exactly. Bad parents should carry all the fault.

the video game industry is as big as the music and movie industry. I'm sure the killers also watched movies and listened to music. There is no heads up needed as it's not relevant.
Stop posting shit like this every time some asshole/s kill people.
You want people to stop associating video games with violence, stop acknowledging this shit.
How many people under the age of 30 DON"T play video games? My point being so many people in this age bracket are gamers that linking shit like this to video games is retarded and irrelevant.

So did 6 to 12 million other people... Did they all commit violent crimes?

I'm just hoping the "news" doesn't report what brand of toilet paper he wiped his arse with as I'm afraid I might be at risk of being a mass murderer.

Of course, let's blame video games, rather than the psychological turmoil inflicted upon this kid that pushed him to do something like this.
That's the logical thing to do, of course.

Logic would dictate that playing poker would lead to school shootings, in this case.

Same rant different devil. A few months back I read a 1958 Article that was originally in Life Magazine...the Author was doing a expose on Rock and Roll particularly Buddy Holly's brand of Rock and Roll...the author made the guy sound like Stalin, Manson and The Evil Child Catcher rolled up in one, and his music subliminal Hypnotherapy that caused kids to do all kinds of horrible stuff. No one with an ounce of common sense bought that garbage then and no one does now, and people who peddle it end up like Jack Thompson.

Well obviously the only rational response here is to lock up Aki before he kills anyone.

I'm curious if he wore pants...I've heard that other people who have gone on this rampages in the past have also worn pants...Therefore PANTS = EVIL!

According to another classmate the shooter was also a total gun nut and had over 30 soft air guns in his room. He used to shoot with them everyday in a near forest.

Once you've had your psychotic break, the fact that you have been training positional strategies in Counterstrike makes you a much more effective and dangerous culprit.
Without Counterstrike there's a chance he would have been subdued while fumbling or surprised from behind before killing so many.

Love these kinds of stories -- makes me feel so secure living where people can legally carry concealed firearms. :(

We need to lock all humans up, else bad things happen all the time!
No, wait. We just need medicine to remove emotions. That'll work.

Right they found it difficult to take him down, with him running around in circles and hopping everywhere.

Are you fucking kidding? No, dumb question. of course you're kidding, because nobody in their right mind would equate a video game to even the slightest amount of weapons training.
Sorry for the mix up, for a second you sounded like a complete fucking loon. But then I remembered that this is the internet, and everyone is sarcastic, even when they don't specifically use the "rolleyes" smiley.

Huh. I thought the dudes that made Flashpoint and Armed Assault specifically made a commercial video-game-like program for -- wait for it -- combat training.
Hey, the media will go back to violent video games ever since the days of Columbine, and gamers will always fight back with "WHAT NONSENSE! HOW DARE YOU?!" and yaknow what else? Peanut butter will always be delicious and July's gonna tend to be hot.
After that exchange is done, look at it objectively. Did Counterstrike make this kid a killer? No. Did Counterstrike make him a better killer? Well it sure wasn't the German army that trained him, I doubt he was a police academy cadet and his dad probably didn't train him in urban combat operations out in the woods. Isn't that a valid question?

i tend to agree, and would say you should be quoted for that publicly. problem is your point would take up too much valuable commercial time/space for any the starbucks catering media outlets of today to deliver it as such. hence all that will be heard will be "Gamer kills babies"
i do raise an exception with the peanut butter part though...
