Edge Online (http://www.edge-online.com/news/104/killzone-2-designer-leaves-guerrilla-splash-damage) is running a brief story that UK Developers Splash Damage are beefing up their dev team with Killzone 2 lead level designer. The partnership with Bethesda Studios seems to be having an affect.
"Neil Alphonso, who became lead level designer at Guerrilla back in 2007, will now head up Splash Damage’s level design team. The London-based studio currently has an unannounced title in development."

The planet is brown and dusty. If it was different, say, oh I don't know, blue and red and green all over, that wouldn't really give you much realism in terms of environments. It's be kooky, like Mario Galaxy. This ain't no Mario Galaxy sir, this is Killzone, where blood and stuff flies all over. But it's also a martian landscape. The blue hints from the *spoilers* special energy stuff were a nice stand out color, but I think they could have put a little bit more in, but then again, it's a dusty piece of crap planet anyway.

People talk shit on the "over-use" of brown palettes, but it really is more realistic. Nothing is ever "true green" or "true blue", and when multiple palettes are used it makes things less unified. I'm looking out a window now and I see a lot of grays, browns, and a mix of the rest.

I was thinking more on the lines of Quake Wars and not Killzone2.
Off to play Nintendo dogs and as mentioned Flower.

Killzone 2 has really good level design (at least MP does, haven't tried much of the campaign) so this is good news for Splash Damage. (And the brown is the art team not the level designer.)

Where I live it's grey and shitty out. Its been raining for 3 days straight and we're just coming out of snow season(the past 4 months). So yeah, it does suck, but boy is it beautiful when it's summer time.
