Ubisoft has announced that the Xbox flight action game Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII will be joined by an Xbox 360 version early next year. We're promised all manor of graphical finery in the X360 version including dynamic lighting effects and battle damage from bullets, bombs and downed planes that's visible and persistent on both terrain and buildings. You can see the first batch of screens from the game over at Boomtown (http://xbox.boomtown.net/en_uk/articles/art.view.php?id=10061).
It's good to see graphical horsepower being used to create an interesting atmosphere in these shots rather than going all-out for photo-realism. Though after yesterday's oil terminal explosion and fire, the sky over London isn't looking too different from that anyway.

From playing the demo, the presentation in this game is utterly amazing. Too bad I've had my fill of world war 2. Possibly for life.

Ooh, dark. Interesting effects. Kinda reminds me of the burning oil fields of the middle-east during Desert Storm... well, minus the actual burning oil wells..

That sure is pretty, though I have to agree with JazGalaxy I'm sick of WWII games.
Seeing this also makes me wonder if there is a sequel to Crimson Skies coming out. . .

nice looking game!! I enjoyed crimson skies for about 3 days before I was tired of the small maps, this game seems to fix that problem.

Do these types of games appeal to gamers in Germany and Japan? Just curious... Maybe these kind of games explain some of the lack of desire on the part of the Japanese to buy Xbox360s??

Does every console have to cater to asian gamers and companies? There are enough fantasy, weird ass mini game type, dance dance, off the wall, rpging games out there. I do not think american gamers lives hinge on the fact that you cannot get final dragon quest -VIIXIVI ice edition for the 360. Yes it is nice to see a variety of games from everyone on a single console but the media, as well as gamers, are putting too much on the whole japanese gamer/companies vs american gamer/companies rivalry. Why dont american gamers start writing emails to the game developers here and bitch about the lack of "quality" games and what they want? It is better than doing nothing at all.
Or I am wrong, yeah...that is quite possible.

Hell yeah. I saw this at E3 on a regular Xbox and it looked great. Didn't know an X360 version was in the works too. I was gonna feel bad about buying an Xbox game 4 months after my 360 came home, and now I don't have to. ;)

Demo? Any more info on that?
And as long as the game is exciting and engaging, I don't care if it's set in WWII or Coruscant or Feudal Japan.

These are some of the most insane next-gen graphics I've seen.

I'm kind of surprised by this as the Xbox version looked really good at E3 this year (almost next gen looking to be honest).
The effects are pretty cool, the demo at E3 had you fighting against the Japanese at Pearl Harbor and as the battle went on the smoke from the ships slowly darkens the skies. Pretty cool stuff IMHO.
