Ever closer to the Christmas holiday. With less than 2 weeks, there's little time for more releases before the end of the year. The only highlight this week is Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows for XBox and PS2. On the DVD front you must pick up the Sin City: Recut DVD. And in the theater we have the mighty King Kong from Peter Jackson. Good week for a movie and DVDs.

Better watch out, bapenguin... someone's gonna kill ya for ignoring FFIV Advance as a 'highlight.'

I'm not an FF fanboy, but they do exist... they're everywhere... !

I think it is also worth mentioning that various reports are saying this should be the week that retailers start actually receiving a decent number of X360 replinishments instead of the urban-centric trickle seen previously.

Gamestop (if you've preordered) - There is a company e-mail that says that these should be arriving on or around the 13th. Call your Gamestop store and ask them to check the shipping manifest. If you haven't preordered, try calling other retailers.

Best Buy - A company memo was leaked stating that they are hoarding X360's in anticipation of an ad for the 18th (really Sunday of NEXT week). Best Buy does not have a preorder situation, and they will also not require bundles (the President of Best Buy apologized to consumers for previous bundles), so this is a pretty good bet if you want to camp out Saturday night for your X360.

Other retailers should actually be getting units in throughout the week according to their shipping schedule. You will just have to call them daily as their employees will be extremely uninformed. All about getting lucky. I've read tips from people that you should contact 24/7 stores late in the evening, and other stores early in the morning.

I wish you good hunting unless you live in Amarillo, in which case you are poaching in my territory and. . . you know, it's so on!

Hell yes, Flying High (Airplane) on DVD. And I'm glad I waited to get Sin City.

Soon as I give birth to these 6 or 7 papers floating around in my head (should finish up some time on Friday), I'll be heading to the theater to see King Kong.

Excellent week for my DVD collection:

Airplane, The Island, Sin City and The 40-Year-Old Virgin will all soon be nestling in my over-populated DVD shelves.

And then there's the small matter of King Kong...

Shoot. I was in my local GameCrazy Saturday and they had five of them. I think they're just trickling in all over. No. I didn't get one. They were all being held.

Whats so different about this version of Airplane: Don't Call me Shirley Edition. I can not find anything from the link, so if anyone knows what special features it has could you fill me in?

I'd count FF4 to be among the highlights of the season. Now if they will just fricking get around to 6!

Somebody will have to let me know how good the new Sin City stuff is since I probably won't find the DVD in my area until at least next weekend.

Chaos Field !!!!! Not only a worthy title for my GC after a long title, but also kick ass classic acade-shoot'em'up game in the likes of ikaruga !

Hoping for the best in the reviews of Gauntlet (and hoping it is backwards compatible). Needless to say, both things are unlikely. I could really dig a new co-op adventure game.

And what's the deal with failing to mention Brokeback Mountain which also hits theatres Friday? It's the first big Hollywood film of its kind and is done by Ang Lee who has proven himself to be a very diverse and extremely competent director (Ice Storm, Crouching Tiger etc.). I will be seeing Kong, but I am more interested in Brokeback Mountain.

I need to see Brokeback, Kong, and I still need to catch Syriana. It's been awhile since I've wanted to go to so many movies. I'll need to hit up some matinee's soon. (10.50 for a regular ticket here in MA).

I never played FF4, and I just got a DS...might pick that up...but I'll most likely get Animal Crossing first.

Brokeback Mountain techinically came out this past Friday, along with Memoirs of a Geisha. Both movies are going to slowly expand over the next month or so.

Brokeback Mountain is doing amazingly well so far. It took about 540,000 dollars in just five screens - that's amazing. Way higher per screen average than anything else in the box office list as far as I know.

I personally can't wait to see Brokeback Mountain, King Kong, or Memoirs of a Geisha. Here's hoping that they are all up in Minneapolis when I move up there next week. :)

Make sure to keep an eye out for the Soviettes and Doomtree when you're in the Twin Cities, excellent stuff right there.

I might nab Chaos, I dig shooters, I'll wait on some reviews. Ikaruga did me well, so I'm favorably inclined from the get-go.

The holidays are upon us and it will serve you well to purchase this gem. Roadrunner United: The All-Star Sessions. A complete package in every way, from the singers to the musicians it is solid. And the Bonus DVD is a nice touch as well, documenting (although rather quickly) the events leading up to and the the events that produced the music on the CD. Rock, Metal, Techno, its all there folks plus a healthy dose of Death Metal and Ave on Guard. Two thumbs up Baby!!!!

The FFIV update for the GBA really snuck up on me. I knew they were making one but didn't expect it out before next year. Arg.

I'll definately be getting Sin City Redux before the year is out. 40-Year-Old Virgin is also one I'll have to get as I loved it when I saw it this summer.

Godzilla: Final Wars comes out this week too. It's worth checking out just to see the classic rubber-suited Godzilla duking it out with that CG impostor from the Hollywood version.

Darwinia was shipped out on Steam this week too. I just got it and it's awesome.

The FFIV remake is quite good. The sound is just as good as I remember and the graphics are quite sharp. I'll be playing it tonight at work while I watch the snow fall.
