The Microsoft gaming 'platform' is finally gaining a head of steam (get it?). First Dawn of War II blasts its way onto the scene as a very high profile Games for Windows Live title, and now it has been revealed that Batman: Arkham Asylum will be swooping in that direction as well. Kotaku (http://kotaku.com/5164260/batman-arkham-asylum-does-games-for-windows-live/?ea):

This means Games for Windows Live players of Batman: Arkham Asylum will be able to earn Gamerscore points by unlocking achievements, and really that's about it. There's Live connectivity, but being a single player game, Arkham Asylum really doesn't get much of a boost from this.

While the achievement bug has left my system, its cool to see things finally happening for their troubled platform.

Bummer. And here I was pleasantly surprised this game would be out on PC recently. I started considering buying it. No longer though. I don't want to have to install a ton of useless crap that offers little value to me in order to play the game I actually bought.

I am looking forward to this title. Hopefully Games for Windows LIVE doesn't try to push the title around to comply with bullshit that caused so many problems with the earlier Games for Windows LIVE games.

Games for Windows Live didn't make my Fallout 3 experience any worse and my Dawn of War II time has been pretty painless, too. The only times I've had issues are when it takes forever to log into the servers because I can't even access my saved games until I'm signed in >_<

Funny enough, half the games coming out on GFWL are also released on (or exclusively through) Steam. :)

If it works anything like DoW2, Games for Windows Live is included directly in the software. There's nothing extra to install, as it's built directly into the game.
The only extra "ton of useless crap" you might have to install is Steam...if it's sold through that and you choose to not buy the boxed version.
