When Paris Hilton shows up someplace with an Xbox 360, it means either the 360 is cool, or Paris Hilton is a nerd. Probably the first one. This article discusses the frustrations of an industry of nerds pretending to be cool (http://www.gamesfirst.com/?id=1058); the independent gamers are getting tired of it. Is game marketing bleeding away our nerdness? Uncool gamers need not apply, because only the cool people that watch MTV are allowed in today's market.

Even when you're not cool, there's a new pressure to pull off the image; the game industry no longer looks like you and me, but instead J Allard and the people you see in the PSP commercials. Suddenly you find yourself using vocabulary that you would never have used before, just showing up spontaneously in your writing. Because we're down like that, yo.

I think she is pretty hot but microsoft didnt have to give her a 360 to promote. That's the part that bothers me, throwing it in the hardcore gamers faces that they cant get one but they will pay some celebrity that doesnt even give a fuck to tote one around and throw it in our faces. Other than that I think the guy that wrote that article is trying too hard to be cool.

There is a big difference between nerds and geeks. I'm a geek, that's because generally speaking I'm not terribly smart, but I'm deeply engrossed in Science Fiction, Fantasy, Gaming, Comics and other traditional geek activities. A nerd is someone with a real brain on their heads, a genius. Geeks just obssess over things, especially hobbies. Fortunetly for us geeks, many nerds are also geeks, so we get smart people in our crowd.

Hell, you can be a Model Train Geek, that doesn't make you smart.

I hope Paris Hilton is driven off an overpass by a crazed lover and Paris is maimed in the accident so she has to wear a mask to hide her disfigurement from everyone. I then want her to go completely bonkers and realize she never survived the crash, but instead was cryogenically frozen to preserve her life and is offered a second chance at life by "Tech Support" after her cryogenically engineered dreams malfuntioned and and gave her living nightmares. She takes the second chance at life, even though she could have unending bliss in a cryogenic dreamworld, and the first chance she gets she drives a fast car, gets into an identical accident by driving over an overpass, and dies, this time for good.

I guess I may be a "geek" then because I love games, own all 3 of the current gen consoles, and spent like 10 hrs a day playing KOTOR on the Xbox. Still, I have an outgoing social life and can attract women of all types. Plus, I am not a virgin and can get sex like 2-3 times a day if I wanted too.

You want to know what's worse? Along with Paris Hilton, Microsoft also gave Madonna a free XBox 360 while she was in Japan and she complained it didn't work so she threw it away.

So a product thousands of gamers waited for (and many turned away) and just as easily thrown away by an old hack of a singer.

Microsoft really makes some idiotic moves at times, but giving one to that no talent former whore now is just unbelivable.
