Shawn Rider, editor-in-chief at GamesFirst.com and a lecturer in the Department of Media Study, SUNY at Buffalo, published a response to Ted Rueter's statement (http://www.gamesfirst.com/?id=1073) that Game Design Programs at Universities are a sign of the Apocalypse. Rueter is an Assistant Professor at DePauw University, and wrote an article last week about how University programs teaching game design are actually just instilling students with the ability to design, "violent video games."
In the article, Rider basically slaps Rueter around a little for talking out on subjects he's obviously unfamiliar with, from the perspective of someone that teaches new media design and a critical approach to videogames and game design.
