Shacknews has word (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/57331) there will be a demo released on Steam tomorrow for The Creative Assembly's upcoming strategy game, Empire: Total War (http://store.steampowered.com/app/10500/).

Sega has confirmed to Shacknews that a demo for Creative Assembly's strategy sequel Empire: Total War will be released on Steam tomorrow at 4pm GMT (11am EST).

Update: The demo is now available (http://store.steampowered.com/news/2268/) exclusively on Steam.

February 20, 2009 - The official demo for Empire: Total War from The Creative Assembly and SEGA is now available on Steam.

This free demo provides a short glimpse of the kind of epic engagements available in the full version of Empire: Total War, which will be released on Steam and at retail in early March. The demo offers players the opportunity to take on the American Army and the French Navy from The Creative Assembly's own "home" side, playing as the British Empire in the "Battle of Brandywine Creek" and the "Battle of Lagos."

Those who pre-purchase Empire: Total War on Steam receive The Creative Assembly's game "Rome Total War Gold Edition" for immediate download.

Good show. I can see if my laptop will run it well enough. I love the Total War series.

I enjoyed the demo.... Wasnt sure how I would like the 'gun' age... and i didnt during my first run through... But after trying it again, i enjoyed it alot.... Still cant believe there was an era when people would stand infront of eachother and shoot.... just crazy

The naval battles are also a blast, but seem to take alot longer. My PC freezes anytime i try to board a ship.... Wind doesnt seem to play much of a factor (which im OK with) since the boats always go the same speed.

I have a feeling campaigns will take much longer (now that you actually fight the naval battles, and they can be longer then land battles)

Still a first day purchase for me!!
