Mass Effect 1 Data 'Should' Carry Over to ME2

Fans eagerly awaiting Mass Effect 2 have poured countless hours into Mass Effect 1, as multiple playthroughs can significantly beef up your Shepard in hopes that your machine-of-a-man (or woman) could be ported over to the sequel. So what's the word? Well, the new platinum version of Mass Effect contains a documentary in which Bioware states that the date 'should' transfer over. More interestingly, though, the documentary mentions that BioWare wants the DLC to tie into Mass Effect 2. Does that mean we get to carry over our character from Mass Effect to Mass Effect 2?

"Any saved game that you make from Mass Effect 1 you should be able to carry that same character into to Mass Effect 2," says the video at about 1:45. "You'll be able to take that save game and create a character in Mass Effect 2."

Hey give it to me :-). I've been wanting the PC version since it came out but didn't have a good PC to play on. Now that I've got a good PC I can't seem to find Mass Effect.

Uh oh. They're starting to throw around the word "should". Meaning they've already begun the process of letting our hopes down gently.

This wouldn't be the first time an awesome feature like character data carry-over was scrapped. *cough*Xenosaga*cough*

It seems to me it'd be pretty fucking stupid to not let you bring your character over. If you're playing as the same character, that is. If you're to remain as Shepard, you need to be able to bring your Shepard over to the next adventure.

I think the way they're choosing their words, they might not mean exact character stats. They're probably only re-stating what they've talked about many times before: that "some data" will carry over, because some of your choices in ME1 affected the universe and personality that you start in for ME2.

I put a lot of work into him and even making his face and such that I absolutely wanna use him again. Plus I loved the first one, absolutely loved it, so I am all over ME2 when it drops.

I don't think every little story choice will carry over, but I can see which choices you made at the end of the game, as well as which companions survived being carried over from a save game.

I do hope they give you the option of altering your appearance at the start of the game. The more I played my Shepard, the more I wanted to tweak her face.
