I think you might be exaggerating the movie's suckage there a little Evil. At the moment, reviews average out to peg it at entertaining although stilted (by the way, I have yet another reason to love Google). *shrug*
Nice to see Walk the Line doing well. Anyone seen Pride and Prejudice? I can't imagine it holding a candle to the BBC production series, but then again, I suppose that's an unfair comparison...

I saw it on opening weekend. It's a very good movie, but it certainly doesn't come close to matching the BBC production.

Aeon Flux is garbage, they basically pulled all the risque fetish elements out of the story and made it a generic action-scifi flick. Too bad, it could've been an interesting movie it was done well.

But Charlize Theron is in it... Surely that's worth something?

No, Evil's precisly correct about Aeon Flux not being screened for critics. This is traditionally a sign that a film is bad... And oh my, is it...
It was one of those movies where the ceiling tiles in the theater start becoming more interesting to examine than the film itself... But then, what do you expect from the writing team that brought us that Jackie Chan/Love Hewitt abortion that was "The Tuxedo"?

Considering the creator of the original Aeon Flux[Peter Chung] basically hates everything about the movie you can safely assume its crap. Unless you have no knowledge of the old show then maybe you have bad taste and can enjoy a craptacular sci-fi action movie.
~Also for those who dont know, to further the fact that the movie sucks, MTV owns the rights and decided to make it into a movie.

Considering that a friend I know that loves almost every movie says it was crap is good enough for me. (Aeon Flux that is)

I haven't seen a single one of these films. Definitely want to see Rent, Pride & Prejudice, and Walk the Line though sometime.

Now there's an idea. Maybe for the sequel! :)

Well i actually liked the style and even the story of Aeon Flux.
It might be because i didnt know anything about Aeon Flux before watching the movie and didn't expect much of it as most comic book adaptations lately haven't been very good. I think its a good movie to watch once or twice if you like action/sci-fi flicks.

Saw Harry Potter. I haven't seen any of the previous films, but my girlfriend dragged me to this one, and enjoyed it quite a bit. It was a lot darker and menacing than I expected it to be. I really want to see Walk the Line, hopefully that'll come this weekend.

I also liked the Aeon Flux movie. The story held together better than any of the animated episodes, although it isn't like that's hard to do.
I did miss the costumes. No chastity belt/thong for Charlize.
They did include some things, like a close-up tongue zoom, and a reference to how "this used to be fun" when she's tying up her partner.

Yeah I went in Aeon Flux expecting it to be total crap, which is maybe why I kinda liked it... It definitly should have been an R rated movie though, becuase it was missing a lot of the senseless slaughter of the original cartoon (espicially the pilot and short stories), as well as a lot of the extreemly bizarre sex fetishism... There some hints at all of it, just not extreeme enough for the Aeon Flux universe...
Also - spoiler warning :
I was also dissapointed that she didn't die at the end and everything ended in mystery or disaster, like every one of the short stories...
Still - I do think the movie is worth seeing once, just not really worth owning on DVD or anything.

The animated cartoon was overrated.
All it had was the fetishistic style and action porn.
Frankly, all that without any form of narrative gets a little old after a half-dozen episodes. Doesn't help that Aeon was animated as disturbingly anorexic either.

I havn't seen this yet, but read a review that said it was not a bad movie and pointed out that the studio seems determined to sink it given a lackluster launch strategy and their not screening it for critics in advance.
There is a weird phenomena I've read about in a few essays that exists in Hollywood. A lot of times, when there is a power shift at a studio, the new regime with purposely torpedo projects that started with the previous regime in an attempt to make new projects they were involved with appear more successful. They probably can not outright can the projects, or withhold all marketing since I'm sure a lot of that is agreed to in the contract with the group that actually makes the film, so they do the bare minimum agreed to, and then sabotage the rest of the films launch.
Who knows. I will probably see this since the latest trailers look substantially more promising than the original trailer did.

The cartoon was innovative and interesting. There was a narrative to it but it was submerged.
For the movie they managed to take everything interesting about the cartoon and put up a craptacular stereotypical action movie, without any really interesting action. While looking at Charlize Theron wasn't a bad thing, I still say she wasn't the person for the role. I'd say someone like Catherine Keener, or if she's not up to the action parts the chick from the Matrix. Someone angular.
I thought part of the point of Aeon was that she was sexy without being the most beautiful woman in the world. Kind of like the electroclash artist Peaches.

Aeon Flux: Went in with abysmally low expecations, came out thinking: "Well it didn't suck."
At least the plot isn't your typical predictable trash that gets churned out in most cheesy action flicks these days. See it or rent it and expect nothing.

Oh, I'm happy I did go see it, I just wasn't too sure about it beforehand, I'm glad my girlfriend convinced me to go. I'll happily go see the others now, I really dug the tone of it.

I went to go see Jarhead, and I still have no idea what to think of it. At first, as I walked out, I thought of it was more of a newage rendition of Full Metal Jacket, but then I thought about it ore and decided that the movie sucked because it didn't really tell the sotry and left many people in mystery about what they truly wanted to say in the movie...

Walk the Line is an excellent movie. Fans of Johnny Cash should definitely see it.

Aeon was definitely not bad, from a laymans point of view. I've never seen the previous shows, however.
