I saw Coraline over the weekend and it was excellent. Definitely not for recommended for young children as the visual were occasionally very creepy.

"Taken" was total ass. Segal would have been a better main character.

Jason Segel? Yeah, but he was already in an action/thriller this fiscal year: Forgetting Sarah Marshell.

I didn't hate "Taken" but Liam Neeson was definitely too old/soft for the role.

But I will agree that it's probably not a 'kids' movie.

I ran into some of my eighth graders at Coraline. I decided to have some fun and embarrass them so I sat with them through the trailers and ate their popcorn. I told them I'd give them extra credit if they wrote a five-paragraph essay detailing the plot elements of the movie. And damned if I didn't get two essays this morning.
Good movie though, but disappointing thought that our theater wasn't showing it in 3D. Not as good as Nightmare, but a hell of a lot better than that mess Corpse Bride.

Couldn't disagree more with this one. Liam Neeson is one of the most bad ass actors to ever grace the screen. Not to mention but the version of "Taken" shown here in NA is severely cut from the French release to get that nice 14A rating (Canadian rating here anyways). I can't wait for the re-release of the DVD with all the greater bits put back in.

My girlfriend is really looking forward to Coraline. I introduced her to Gaiman with Stardust and gave her Neverwhere and she absolutely loves his work. She's gone on to read everything except his comic stuff (too expensive down here). So can't wait to see that.
Also, I wonder why it took so long for you guys to get Taken. Anyone know the story behind it? Is it a foreign-made/financed film?

Nice what you did with the kids :)
I'm crazy to see Coraline. Waiting to release here on Brazil

Whoever said Neeson was soft in TAKEN doesn't have a clue. TAKEN was one of the better action/suspense movies I've seen in a while. Not only did Neeson totally own the role, but he was actually believable in the role too. It was just some roided up action star, but I could buy that he was a father and that he could actually do these things.
See TAKEN. It's worth it.

Taken was written by Luc Besson, so of course there will be those who love and those who hate.
