Congratulations to the Pittsburgh Steelers and all of their loyal fans. It was a great game!

The Steelers won 27-23 and are the first team in NFL history to win the Super Bowl (http://www.nfl.com/superbowl/43) six times. Congratulations are also in order for Santonio Holmes who won the MVP and a tip of the cap goes to the Cardinals who put up a hell of a fight.

Recap:

The Steelers got off to a fast start scoring a field goal on their first drive, after the officials overturned what was originally called a touchdown run by Ben Roethlisberger. They followed that with another strong drive that ended with a 1 yard touchdown run by Gary Russell.

The Cardinals got back into the game when Kurt Warner hit Ben Patrick with a 1 yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. It looked like the Cardinals were going to take the lead late in the first half until James Harrison intercepted Kurt Warner and returned it 100 yards for a touchdown, the longest play in Super Bowl history. That play ended the first half with the Steelers up 17-7.

Late in the third quarter the Steelers tacked on 3 more points with another Jeff Reed field goal, putting them up by 13. The Cardinals fought their way back again with an 87 yard scoring drive capped off with a Kurt Warner touchdown pass to Larry Fitzgerald, Steelers 20 - Cardinals 14.

On the next drive the Steelers went three and out giving the Cardinals the ball back with under six minutes left to play. The Cardinals next drive started with a few good plays and stalled after a holding penalty. The Cardinals punted and pinned the Steelers inside the 1 yard. Just when it looked like the Steelers got a big first down with 2:58 to go they were called for holding in the end zone resulting in safety, Steelers 20 - Cardinals 16.

With 2:37 to go Kurt Warner hit Larry Fitzgerald again, this time for a 64 yard touchdown. After the extra point the Cardinals went up by a score of 23-20, setting up what could be the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history.

The Steelers would have none of that though, marching down the field with a drive that ended when Ben Roethlisberger hit Santonio Holmes for a 6 yard touchdown on a spectacular catch. That put the Steelers up 27-23.

The Cardinals got the ball back with 29 seconds to go. After making a couple of passes in the middle of the field the Steelers put the final nail in the Cardinals coffin forcing a fumble with five seconds to go.

My opinion of Santonio Holmes has certainly changed. He played the game of his life. I hope he's a free agent. My team could use a guy like him. James Harrison too. He's a monster! I'm glad the Steelers won.

On a side note, the Steelers have kind of become the Duke Blue Devils of professional sports. Phantom penalties plague their opponents, and outside of the two drives where penalties were called on them that let the Cardinals come back and take the lead, the officials weren't even looking at the Steelers for most of the game. I'm all for letting the teams play, but let's at least make it fair and call it both ways or not at all. Not nearly as bad as the Seattle game though, as the Cardinals had plenty of chances to stop the Steelers and didn't.

There were some bad calls though, like the Roughing the Passer call on Karlos Dansby in the third quarter.

Arizona fans must feel the EXACT same way us Eagles fans felt 2 weeks ago, "Just stop the other team ONE LAST TIME and we win the game!"

Bah.

I hate losing.

What, James Harrison didn't get MVP?

If the close up (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nG9GXtr9rpY) of him trying to beat the Hell out of another player in the 4th didn't do it, I don't know what should.

Another rule was brought up last night that I wasn't sure about... the Safety. After the offensive holding call on the Steelers, I naturally assumed there would be 2 points for the Cards and was confused as to why it didn't happen. A quick look on nfl.com shows that you only get 2 points if the ball is still in the end zone.

Oh well, it was clearly the best Super Bowl in years. Hard fought, well played game. Now I get to be sad that there's no football for several months.

I was rooting for the cardinals, however the steelers played a great game. There was some weird penallties for the Cardinals... but that wasn't the reason they lost.

Because i saw the game outside the US, I couldn't see the commercials... I'm waiting for youtube to help me on that one.

I'm sad because for the second superbowl in a row, the team i was rooting for lost on the last minute of the game.... crap.

Yeah, the best SB since.........last year. I feel like people are starting to say that about the SB every year. Don't get me wrong, it was an excellent game.

As for the several months thing, you DO have the Pro Bowl next Sunday.

I'm not sure what you mean, they definitely got 2 points for the safety. 7+7+7+2 = 23.

Yeah, I found that out afterwards... I thought the score didn't change after it happened... I guess I just wasn't paying as good attention as I thought I was with my kid.

Come on, Cards! You can't Dick Butkiss the ball for 2 minutes? Allowing 95 defensive yards in 2 plays? Interception throws? Jesus, you made the Puppy Bowl more entertaining (Which I had picture-in-picture).

great superbowl, for someone with a rooting interest in neither team, I enjoyed it. As always the superbowl is kind of bittersweat end to the NFL season though.

I couldn't believe it when the Cardinals pulled it back but the Steelers offense came out to a defense that already seemed to have gone home. I was rooting for the Cardinals but other than when they were playing no huddle passing plays in the 4th quarter they really weren't playing to either their full potential or the necessary standard to beat the Steelers.

That last quarter was amazing though. Truly edge of the seat stuff.

That interception before halftime will haunt the Cardinals' players and fans for the rest of their lives. It's bad enough to throw an INT when you're on the doorstep of the endzone, but then you let him run it back 100 yards for a TD? Pathetic. Without that play, it's a totally different game, and Arizona probably wins.

I really wanted a FG and OT, but Big Ben and Holmes had to ruin it with a ridiculous throw and catch. Ah, well. At least it was entertaining. Been awhile since a non-Patriots Super Bowl was exciting.

As a Ravens fan, we have an interesting perspective on the Steelers. I remember last season on cold rainy night chanting "STEELERS SUCK" to the detriment of some fans that on the sunset of the Billick era we still owned them. Fast forward to another season where with a rookie coach and rookie quarterback we manage to beat Miami, Tennesee and face the "stillers" in the AFC Conference game just to watch their defense look like Ed Reed and Big Ben face ridiculous pressure to make plays.

I cant help but give those black and yellow props for the AFC North although the Cardinals played smashmouth football to give their division some credibility. I hope Arizona maintains next year with its coaching pedigree and parallels the division rivarly that wins Superbowls.
