February, February, February! Remember these are previews more than reviews so it's up to you lot to say whether or not the choices are actually worth reading! Remember to check out the release calendars for DC (http://www.dccomics.com/), Marvel (http://www.marvel.com/), Top Cow (http://www.topcow.com/), Image (http://www.imagecomics.com/), Dark Horse (http://www.darkhorse.com) and all your other favourites! So without further ado let's have a look at this weeks most interesting titles.
The Mighty #1
I'm really excited about this one, it's not often DC takes something entirely seperate from canon under it's main banner. Alpha One - the world's only superhero - is supported by is own police force. One particular agent finds himself called upon after the murder of one of the organisations big-wigs. It's really promising and should be a great tale of being a hero without being in tights.
Secret Six #6
It was originally supposed to end here what with Secret Six planned as a mini-series. I'm incredibly pleased that it hasn't as the story has been superb so far. The shady character has been revealed and it's an all out war for the "Get Out of Hell Free" card. Brilliantly traditional with a keen edge this is a real must-buy.
Agents of Atlas #1
Dark Reign is turning into the team orientated event. This new book heralds the return of Marvel heroes from the 1950's and has enough potential to warrant a flick through. The trick will be to not feel generic as Norman Osborn's influence stretches into another band of heroes. Potentially fun, potentially irrelevant.
Secret Warriors #1
The other new team book from Marvel from this week. Using more familiar faces it's less likely this book will feel unnecessary and far more likely that it will have a huge impact on Dark Reign. Nick Fury takes on a new breed of heroes to take down Norman Osborn. The new team is unveiled, it has a strong creative team and should feel fresh. Exciting!
Also of note this week:
Black Panther returns and T'Challa seems to be dead, replaced by a woman! Ultimate Hulk faces off against Ultimate Wolverine. Image's Savage should definitely finish after a short delay. Terror Titans has it's penultimate issue whilst Adventure Comics #0 gets a reprint for DC. The Authority continues for Wildstorm as does Kull (an adaptation of The Shadow Kingdom) for Dark Horse.
