Black screenshots (PS2/XBOX)

Thats probably why they kept it under wraps so long. They made this game sound like the second coming to FPS's.

I don't get it. Your comparing CoD2 (PC/XBox360) and FEAR to a Xbox/PS2 screenshot. For the console, those screens are nothing short of amazing. I betcha the PC shots/movies are hot. Plus...look at the fucking pillars...now THAT's environmental destruction.

No, I'm talking about combat intesity not graphics. CoD2 had my hands shaking at points on Hill 400 it was so intense. Black just doesn't cut it. But I have to say, all the enviromental damage things look pretty cool.

Yeah, I'm waiting for one of those. Of course it's always fun to speculate about things. I bet that Halo 5 will be so intense that I shit myself. Halo 6 is gonna be dull though, way dull. :D

That is the whole point. If your're a PS2 loyalist, this is the game you point to when you say "'my' platform isn't dead" whilst telling people to *not* buy a 360.

Yeah, but these are dev shots on hi-def resolutions. I'd love if the PS2 could alias that well and that crisp :P

I dunno. I remember the one gameplay movie looking pretty intense. Don't get me wrong. I'm playing Call Of Duty 2, Condemned, and F.E.A.R. right now. It's going to have to be TOP NOTCH for me to dig an FPS these days. But, it's Criterion, and I have high hopes.

On a side note, I'm playing Matrix: Path of Neo (comes to mind because of environmental destruction) and oddly enough, it's been a HELL of a lot of fun. I've been pretty thoroughly impressed. It's a bit glitchy, and you see a lot of chugging. But, the graphics are really pretty impressive. Even if, like myself, your disenfranchised with the whole Matrix thing...check this game out. You'll probably be pleasantly surprised. Rent it though..it seems pretty short. I got mine from gameznflix (I love that service.)

With this one it’ll be all about the gameplay. Of course it would be better if the graphics were next-gen, and hopefully they’ll release a next-gen version, because I’m almost always on the “better graphics = good” side of the fence. But to all those who normally make the argument that graphics don’t matter, here you go. You can be balls to the wall without the use of complex shaders (it just isn't as balls to the wall as it could be had the graphics been better :p ).

OXM UK have played a short demo, they seem pretty happy with it even at this stage. They are saying that the game looks like a lot of fun. I like the premise to be honest, blow the shit out of everything, works for me.

I mean come on, these are the guys that brought you the Burnout games. If this game isn't intense up to the point of a heart attack then I don't know what will be (with the obvious exception of COD2).

Oh I bet they would be if they existed but unfortunately they don't because Black is a console-only release.

Call me crazy but when I bought my 360 I also (finally) picked up KillZone for my aging PS2. While CoD is white knuckle great fun, there are scenes in KillZone that stand up to the very best console shooters. And the graphics for KZ are still very impressive.

So, to say that Black would be anything but great is just silly. It's the same team that made the Burnout series (Criterion) and the Renderware development that powers them both. They were just purchased (pwned) by EA, with all of that cash and backing they are going to continue to make gaming goodness for all consoles! I say bring it on! Wait until the next Madden, it'll be on the Renderware platform too (as will most future EA titles)! Keep your ears peeled for GDC in March.

The screenshots look really bad.

Go to gametrailers and watch the gameplay movies/trailers. It's not the screenshots, it's how the game moves. How the smoke rolls through the level and the amazing lighting effects.

It's smooth as silk.
