Bluesnews (http://bluesnews.com/) has posted news (http://bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewthread&threadid=62467) that Gothic II Gold has begun shipping in North America. But more importantly that Aspyr (http://www.aspyr.com/) has acquired the rights to distribute Gothic III in North America.
AUSTIN, TX (November 30, 2005) - Aspyr Media today announced it has acquired the rights from JoWood to publish and distribute Gothic III in North America. As the third part of this globally successful role-playing saga, Gothic III offers players a nonlinear, open-ended role-playing game with an enthralling story that presents an extremely detailed simulation of nature and human behavior. Developed by Germany’s Piranha Bytes/Pluto13, Gothic III will be released in the first quarter of 2006 for the PC at a SRP of $39.99.

Just want to be the first to say...
WOOOHOO!
Gothic 3 can't come soon enough. It looks better than Oblivion.

I'm going to go grab Gothic II gold to hopefully put my anticipation of oblivion on the sideline.

So if I never finished Gothic, but kind of know how the ending went, will it kill my enjoyment of Gothic 2?

Compusa says it has them in stock. If you have a store near you check online and see if they have any in stock. 4 stores in my area have them.

Excellent. I did just that and there is one in my area that has them in stock according to the website. I know where I am headed on my way home. Thanks for the tip!

Not at all. It does give a recap at the begining of Gothic 2, and its fairly easy to pick up on what happend. I've read though that Gothic 2 Gold (With the expansion) Is much harder than Gothic 2 was, and it was a damn hard game to get started in. Don't get discouraged, after you get the hang of the controls and the fighting, good lord its a great game. :D

Just started playing Gold with the Night of the Raven expansion bit and it's a steal at 20 bucks. Awesome game with sooo much to explore and soo many playing styles possible. Excellent RPG!

Think the fighting system will be changed in 3? I may actually play one of them if they do that.

The fighting system has been changed in 3 to make it easier. But, for those who learned the fighting system of 1 and 2 and like that way, you can change the default to fight like the previous games. Amazon.com shipped my Gothic 2 gold on the 11/25 and I should get it tomorrow with Spellforce Plat and Silent Storm Gold. For 20 bucks, you can't go wrong with any of these games. And no need to worry about not playing Gothic 1 - Gothic 2 fills you in on people and story. It is suggested that you play Gothic 2 without the add-on first, just to get your feet wet. Once you are used to it, then go to the add-on because the add-on does raise the level of difficulty.
I also read that when Gothic 3 comes out, they will have a collectors addition that gives you Gothic 1. Aspry has my vote for distributor of the year since they are getting Gothic 3 out so quickly, and not like Atari that waited a year to distribute 2.

Yeah you do have one better.....at least I can get a shit-ton out of NWN. Well considering I already own the original and the first xpack, and it was just cheaper to buy Diamond then get HoTU, I just said fuck it.
