IGN (http://www.ign.com) has their review up (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/670/670474p1.html) for Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie. While the review focuses on the XBox 360 version, they do talk about the other versions of the game. Overall it appears to be a solid title from UbiSoft.

After confronting a handful of mid-level enemies, when you finally confront the "V-Rex," the game's first real knockout moment kicks in. The scenario revolves around you Denham and Hayes getting chased into a grotto blocked by a locked door. You must distract the monster by either spearing a nearby bat or spearing the V-Rex itself. This monster is huge, swift, and can kill you with one bite. The audio kicks up a notch as your breath delivers an undeniable feeling of fear. I seriously have never felt so damn anxious by a videogame in all my life.
It's ashame the game is so short, I'm still looking forward to playing through it...and watching the movie.

There was a comment somewhere out there (I want to say Penny Arcade) that I saw and they said it was awesome, despite the length.

EDIT: Yeah, here it is. Gabe from PA.

I had a lot of time over the holiday to play with the 360. So far I think my favorite game is King Kong. It looks spectacular on the 360 but I recommend you go out and get a copy for whatever system you have. I’ve just about got it beat and I’m really enjoying it. The game is short but it’s an awesome ride all the way. Honestly I prefer a well told story and an exciting game that takes me 8 hours to play over some go anywhere do anything sand box title that has “100 hours of game play.”

Call me crazy, but I'm really starting to hate this whole "SEE THE MOVIE AND PLAY THE GAME!!!" deal with every movie.... Just seems too contrived... How can the developers really be inspired by the movie without really seeing it 1st... meh...

Isn't the movie supposed to be over three hours long?

I don't know what he's on (and I admit, he may be distracted at the moment) but I got through the game in about four and a half hours. And I suck at console FPS style games (I still haven't beaten Metroid Prime yet - damn Meta Ridley!).

It IS a great game. But you can enjoy an equally (or dare I say, superior) game that lasts the average gamer twice as long and doesn't have a movie attached to it by playing Shadow of the Colossus.

8 hours to beat Kong? Thats... poor.

Now that I have tried the PC demo, I would say that the demo, despite containing only one first person and one Kong level, is worth at least five dollars. Even if these levels are a little on the short side, I found them quite replayable and, most imprtantly, enjoyable. I love how they can manage effectively two T-rexes: one that inspires great fear in the first person; and another that provides an intimidating and challenging, if neither scary nor realistic, adversary.

For those who buy the game: get Kong into rage mode at every opportunity if you want to win really fast. If the demo is any indication, the power gained is akin to a cheat mode; use at your own discretion :)

I think in this case it's because Peter Jackson worked very closely with the development team and even went out of his way to put the right people behind the project (the guy behind Beyond Good and Evil... forget his name ATM).

It may be getting to be a contrived and fairly unspectacular happenance for tht most part, but the odd exception (Vin Diesel and Riddick) really stands out because the people behind them wanted to make a great game first and foremost.

I for one don't care at all about King Kong, the game or the movie. Monkeys and dinosaurs never did anything for me. I guess it's a US thing?

Yeah, the U.S. sure was indifferent to that Jurassic park :D

I bet Peter Jackson couldn't name ONE of the developers...
