Metal Arms: Glitch in the System was well received by critics upon it's release on PS2, Gamecube and Xbox several years ago. The platform shooter was an epic game developed by Swingin' Ape and it looks like the studio head from back in the day may want to purchase the license.

As it turns out, that might not be true. Don't get your hopes up too high, because it still looks like an extreme long shot, but in an interview with 1UP earlier this week, former Swingin' Ape head (and current president of Specular Interactive, a new developer working on a Hydro Thunder spiritual sequel called H2Overdrive) mentioned that he was interested in acquiring the rights to the series and would "absolutely" be interested in making a sequel if he had the opportunity.

So it's about as far as these things can be from being confirmed, but fun to think about!

It was a decent game but it got a little repetitive. Might sound a little brutal but I'm really not sure it needs a sequel.

I enjoyed that game throughout, but later played Ratchet and Clank and had way more fun.

Something could be done with the Metal Arms IP, but it would be a challenge to make it compellingly relevant against other options in gaming.

Bring on the newer, shinier version! I quite enjoyed the original.

It doesn't need a sequel, but, I found the original enjoyable enough that I would buy the sequel.

I liked it.

More posts like this please :)

Although I don't think it's necessary, nor will it be particularly successful, I would pick up a sequel just because you've gotta support platformers.

I loved the first Metal Arms. Glad to see that a) that a company made up of some of the same people is making a sequel to my favorite arcade game ever, and b) that they are considering making a sequel to a very decent xbox title.

The first game had its faults but I really, really enjoyed it for what it was.

A sequel with a little more polish and a more accessible multiplayer setup would be fucking amazing.

lost, you are nuts that Metal Arms doesn't need a sequel. I still assert that had the game been on Xbox Live (it shipped quite a bit before Halo 2) it would have been a breakout franchise and we'd be on the 4th, 5th, or 6th iteration of the franchise.

A fun fact: I actually tested Metal Arms and let me tell you Swinging Ape was a fantastic developer to work with. Did the game have bugs? Yes, but they fixed them pretty quickly and had a very low ReOpen rate. They were easy going and liked to joke around a lot in the bugs, basically treating the database like a EvilAv message board. Only they were so on point that it didn't hurt the project at all and made overtime a blessing, not a curse. Their only problem? Feature Creep, even on a gold build. But whatever they put in would work, so I can't say it was too much of a problem.

God I wish our marketing department hadn't left poor Glitch out there to die like they did. Of all the games that were excellent but died at retail, Metal Arms is the least deserving of that fate.

I dunno dude, I'm glad you had a good time with them but there are a mountain of games I'd put on the "must do sequel" list before Metal Arms.

It was good, not great.

To me, everything except for the actual mission structure was certainly on the "great" side. The game was just too difficult to get to the end-game for most people. Which is a shame, because the quality of the levels kept improving as you worked your way through the game and your arsenal grew.

I know nothing about the company, but they sound like a great crew.
I loved the game even though some of it was really difficult. (zombie boss battle).
If you never played it, grab it on the 360 as a classic title.
