id Software has released a properly working version of last week's multiplayer impaired Quake 4 demo allowing you to try out Raven Software's sci-fi FPS. This demo offers a single-player mission from the beginning of the game where you have to clear a landing zone for the main earth forces, and 2 variations of The Fragging Yard map, playable in Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Tournament modes.
You can grab the Quake 4 SP/MP demo (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=30211) (340mb) over at WorthPlaying

Multiplayer worked fine for me in the previous release, what was wrong with it (besides being pretty boring)? Does this have any single-player that the first version didn't?

Isn't the multiplayer limit in Quake 4, like, 8?

Haven't bothered to purchase the full game yet (worried).
Downloaded the initial demo... was reminded entirely too much of a horrible movie with the intro being a zoom-out from within an empty eye-hole of a skeleton, complete with American flag suit. Thanks, yuck. Was that a Patrick Swayze movie?
Anyway... not sure just why it took TWO tries at a demo. That's not very encouraging, frankly. Singleplayer demo was ok, nothing amazing. Felt very much on-rails.
Couldn't help but notice a distinct memory of the original Red Faction. Sans semi-deformable terrain.
Overall, OK, but not particulary impressive. Would love to hear others' take on the full singleplayer game, or its multiplayer aspects.
Thanks in advance.

The single player is FAR better then the multiplayer.

wait, what exactly was wrong with the first demo? I played through the whole single player and a few multiplayer matches without a single problem.

Wow. That really doesn't speak very well of the game, since every review I've read said the single player was pretty lackluster on-rails action and the single player demo entered and left my machine within a matter of hours, being distinctly unimpressive.

I enjoyed the single player quite a bit, you just have to have your expectations right.
I love the multiplayer. But I also thought UT was crap compared to Quake3. Q4 is of course identical to Q3 multiplay in every way.
