Next Generation (http://www.next-gen.biz) is reporting (http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1744&Itemid=2) that WITI (Women In Technology International) have agreed to sponsor PMS Clan (http://www.pmsclan.com/).

Amber Dalton, leader and co-founder of PMS Clan said, "I'm delighted that WITI has selected us to be their gaming ambassadors. Their mission to support women mirrors the underlying goal of PMS Clan to assist women in traditionally male-dominated areas of technology fields. On behalf of all the PMS members and our community, we're looking forward to representing WITI in the upcoming 2006 Season."
Congratulations to PMS Clan.

Silly me, I thought their acronym would preclude them from getting any salient sponsorships.

Why would Pandora's Mighty Sword preclude them from anything?

Is it okay to call PMS Clan 'girls'? I mean, I wouldn't want to patronize them or anything.

Maybe they prefer sexually challenged?

It's a joke, put the weapons down.

The following statements ARE NOT opinions or thoughts of my own.

I don't want to ruffle feathers, but I've heard some discouraging things about the FragDolls in the past, and most of it eluded to the fact that they were sellout-sponsored-publicity-stunts. (Again, not my thoughts). Whether or not this is true, I hope the sponsorship of the PMS clan doesn't taint their image in the gaming community.

My thoughts:
Good job girls :D

It's great a group of gamers got a sponsorship. You're gamers with benefits, I am indifferent to your background, colour, religion, wealth, social standing or your gender. All I care is you play well and don't cheat, everything else is optional, I would prefer you being good sports, not a win at all costs group: but I'm a minority on that last point.

Gamers can be anyone from any background, the majority happen to males: ergo most gaming products will be made for the largest audience. Pro gamers are however, a niche market with a niche audience, I don't see how a gender specific sponsorship for a niche market will help broaden the majority audience, other than painfully corny soundbits in mainstream publications.

A group of gamers with physical disabilities, different languages, etc. would be totally awesome. I put this in the same category as that dude with his face on an ATI video card box: trivia. It's cool you got it, since gender doesn't limit your ability to play, you're just a clan with sponsorship. There are of course, stupid men that will make stupid comments, but only because the only difference being made is that the group is all female.

You frag me, I frag you. I win, you lose. You win, I lose. Everything else is window-dressing. Congrats!

I agree. Gaming is a competitive, entertaining activity that is, in my mind, equal to any sport. Now of course gaming does not have quite the mass culture recognition of some sports, but the PMS girls are a few of many who are working on that. Congratulations!

I don't understand what the sponsor gets out of this.

Regardless, good going ladies.

They're a clan who got sponsorship. Who cares?

And I dont care if you put down your weapons- I'm tired of hearing about this clan almost as much as I'm tired of seeing Fatal1ty's name on all this stupid hardware that costs more because of the name no one has heard of.

Do YOU have a clan sponsorhip?! I doubt it considering how jealous you sound of fatal1ty. so get over it and get a life. these chicks are pretty awesome gamers and they deserve whatever kudos comes their way.

Thanks, all! We are so proud to allign ourselves with such a great group!

FYI...WITI gets potential women gamers interested in TECH programs & a move into something they really had not explored for thier organization...gaming! This issue was discussed in the interview done by Evil Avatar last month. Women teams, like PMS, bring exposure to gaming from areas the industry would not have seen if they were not there. It helps us all! :)
