Speaking in an exclusive interview with PSU (http://www.psu.com/), Terminal Reality Executive Producer Brendan Goss explains why the PlayStation 3 was chosen as the lead development platform for Ghostbusters: The Videogame and believes that the final result on Sony’s console should be “amazing”.
“Sony and the talent were adamant that before they got involved with a Ghostbusters game, the tech had to be capable of providing an authentic Ghostbusters experience, and that required graphics and physics tech,”

Of course PS3 leads the way! So far, from all that I have read and heard, it seems clear that for games intended to release on both PS3 and X360, making the PS3 lead console and porting to the 360 is MUCH easier than the reverse. So, if you want to be confident you can meet your launch window, this makes sense.

The fact that Sony owns the studio that produced the movie that the game is based on had nothing to do with this decision! ;)

This has not always resulted in a better game in the past.

Heh, I was gonna come in here to comment something similar, but was beat to it... touche, sir!

Mirror's Edge shows the results of PS3 as lead plat. I have beaten it on both platforms.
The 360 ME plays kinda dumpy by comparison with bad avatar shading glitches and *gasp* choppy framerate at key places.

This has been known for a while and isn't new.

The PS3 haters are out. It only makes sense to start development on the better tech and port it to the lesser.

Please shut up. Yes evilavatar is full of ps3 hate, but you only make things worse.

I always think that Sony should look to secure titles based on their movie properties as exclusives.
Sony as a company doesn't seem to like working together.

Greeble=self-fulfilling prophecy
Da Ghostbustahs belong on Sony's platform, hell, Sony needs to make a CGI movie featuring all the main actors as VA's ala Advent Children, then proceed to horde it over MS fanboys. I'm really disappointed with the lack of 'fight' in the current SONY gameplan for this gen. Simple one-upsmanships like this and more would do wonders for their North American market share, I really can't fathom how they don't take advantage more than they have.
All you people who've said I should be on the the Sony payroll may have a serious point!!

Hey now, I just bought a PS3. So far, I really dig it... particularly LittleBigPlanet (and I'm only playing the 'mediocre' single player platforming part of it. The style helps out a lot I think, its really quite charming.

Actually it makes sense to develop on the inferior machine since that way you are guaranteed that the more powerful machine will easily run it even if the code is not 100% optimized for that machine. But don't let technical stuff get in the way of your trolling :)

So we should dev multiplatform games for Wii first and upwards port it to the real consoles? It's like film; it's always easy to take quality out, never so easy to put quality in. Start at the top and work your way down. At least this way we'll get to see if there is any real value to Sony's claims of superior hardware.

Then why didn't more games have the Xbox as the lead platform last gen but instead led on the inferior PS2? By your logic, it was stupid for any game to lead on PS2 last gen.

I think the truth is that it actually makes more sense to begin a project on the most "complex" system, whether or not that system is actually more powerful.
And modeps, the SP of LittleBigPlanet is downright fantastic, and there are a TON of amazing levels to be found online (a really good Mario Bros level, a good Bioshock level, and so forth)
