1.8 GB and no torrent option, and FilePlanet on top of that. We've reached an age where our bandwidth can handle such tasks, but it seems almost criminal to waste the technology.

Hopefully this will be better than the expansions and subsequent console releases. I personally thought they were all shit.

The expansions were not done by Monolith, and they've come out and said that they think the expansions suck, too.

Is there a single place to download from that doesn't have BS waiting lines, or account subscription requirements? If there was a torrent file, the more people downloading at the same time, the better - which makes lines retarded. I usually hit around 500-750k on torrents. With this download I'm maxed at 60k.

Well I'm not through all of it yet but it's creepy for sure. Looks just all right to me. This engine while good lacks the punch of some others out there. I'd say worth the look see.
If you are expecting proper PC 4:3, 16:10 widescreen, don't waste you time, unless you like letterbox and a cramped UI wasting screen space. It's Condemned all over again only this time "Widescreen" "0" doesn't do shit in the autoexec.cfg file.

I know right??? I was taking my time looking around and it only took 30 minutes...
I'm let down by this.. Where the hell do MECHS come into play from the original FEAR?
The HUD is CRAMPED like someone else said.
The gameplay was decent. Not real tactical.. AI tried to hide behind tables and stuff, but it didn't help them.
Definitely somewhat scary, imo. Although I really don't know how FEAR2 fits into FEAR1... seems like two different worlds. I liked FEAR1 overall. (Minus repetitive scenery and "get to the other side of this forcefield" gameplay)
Physics are miles better than the old game (no jittery cacti everywhere)
Game runs good at max settings. Looks pretty good

OH.. and I was really let down by the plane and bus scenes... Left 4 Dead has the best plane crash scene I've seen.. but Fear2 you don't even see the plane crash.... PREY had an excellent bus-lightup scene... better than Fear2's... it let me down

Did you even play FEAR?
There were smaller mech guys (Powered Armors) as well as little flying robots that shot lasers. These are the Elite Powered Armors (EPAs), which are just bigger versions of the ones in FEAR.
Honestly, It's fine if you don't like them...but you must have only played a couple levels of the first game if you missed the big Ed-209 lookin' things in the first game.

I played all of FEAR all the way through. Granted, it was when the game first came out. I honestly don't remember any sort of mechs or amazing enemies of any sort..

That was pretty cool...I agree about the blood looking a bit funny...
Also, definately scary enough imo.
I'm impressed at how smooth it runs with setting maxed out too.
The people at Monolith have a come a long way since Blood!

21minds left in the d/l...
Been looking forward to this game for a long time. Not that I'm getting my hopes up too high, but the original is one of my favourite FPSes for just straight shooting action - very satisfying formula.
Here's hoping they stick to what works.
18mins left.......

I wonder how this will do in terms of sales, compared to Killzone 2, which releases around the same time. I think Monolith is great, Condemned 2 wasn't even mentioned during any discussion of GOTY. FEAR was fun, but repetitious environments were a common and justified complaint, if this one fixes that, great. The demo seems like a straight ahead action game, the only wrench being the slow-mo stuff. The voice acting is pretty poor, as are the cheesy pictures of teammates that show up in the HUD. I will wait for reviews, but I'm guessing 85 meta.

pulled it from steam and played until it booted me-
It's fun, and being in the mech is fun, but part of the appeal of fear is being afraid/startled/on edge, and in the demo at least, it was creepy being underground and inside, but then being in the mech destroys any sense of fear

I actually thought that moment provided some much needed relief. It transforms you from terrorized to terrorizer.
The gibs were cool.
