Does Resident Evil 5 Have 16 Player Offline MP?

When I saw this rumor (http://www.videogaming247.com/2009/01/21/rumour-resident-evil-5-to-have-offline-multiplayer-up-to-16-players/) come in, I didn't want to post it because it seemed nuts... however it looks like Capcom confirmed (http://www.videogaming247.com/2009/01/21/rumour-resident-evil-5-to-have-offline-multiplayer-up-to-16-players/) that indeed Resident Evil 5 has some sort of 2-16 person offline multiplayer mode, then quickly denied it saying "oops, no the box art is lying (http://www.videogaming247.com/2009/01/21/capcom-our-box-art-lies/)."

Considering Capcom just recently announced what was going to be in the Collector's Edition for RE5, this very well could just be a late announcement prior to the game launch and they aren't ready to reveal it.

If you look at hard at the Resident Evil 5 box art, you’ll notice that in amongst all the specifics it says “system link 2-16 players.”

Now whether this is just on the box as standard or if indeed you can link up your console with eight others from some offline action remains to be seen.

If it is in there, what could it consist of?

You're in luck! RE5 is a strange marriage between Resident Evil and Dino Crisis; most of the players play as zombie dinosaurs. As a side-note, the dinosaurs are being ridden by equally undead Nazis.

I can'r recognize my favorite game series anymore... Resident Evil with multiplayer? It was bad enough with Outbreak, but this?

I always thought Outbreak was a cool idea that didn't play out very well. The characters who could make weapons out of stuff were awesome. Being able to use a nailgun to board up a doorway... these things just never happened in any other RE.
